Chapter 23

I woke up the next morning alone, I pulled on one of Tony's shirts then walked down stars "Tony?" I called as I looked around then sighed "Jarvis? where's Tony?" I asked walking back up stairs to get  pair of sweat pants "He is in his lad miss. Stone" I got from nowhere and nodded "thank you" I said and walked down stairs, Pepper was holding and a shining thing in her hand "what do you want me to do with this?" she asked him and he looked at it "destroy it, throw it away I don't need it anymore" he told her. I walked in "why do you want to destroy it? never know when you'll need it" I said making them both jump and my smile to fall a bit "hey" Tony smiled at me and walked over to me "because I have a better one now" he told me. He pulled me up stairs and told me to get dressed "where are we going?" I asked him as he pulled me along "I have to go see James and I want you to come with me... I would have had you change this out but I didn't want to wake you up. I'm surprised I got up so early" he said making me laugh "I was sad I woke up alone" I said as we got to were we where going "what about a pilot with out a plane?" Tony asked as we walked up to them, The guys looked at me till Tony put his arm around m shoulder "look who fell out of the sky. Mr. Tony Stark and Mrs. Emma Stone" Tony shook a few hand and I smiled and nodded at them "speaking of manned or unmanned, you gotta get him to tell you about the time he guessed wrong at spring break. Just remember, Spring break, 1987. That lovely lady" tony said smirking at him "don't do that!" James said playfully glaring at him "what was his name?" Tony asked him and I laughed at the two. James pointed at the pilots "don't do that" he shook his head as they laughed "was it Ivan?" Tony kept going making me laugh quietly "don't do that. they'll believe it. Don't do that" He kept saying "okay" Tony said looking at me for a moment and winked "it was a pleasure meeting you" Tony said and I waved as they walked away "Give us a couple of minutes you guys" James said dismissing them. Tony then got serious and moved his arm off my shoulder and grabbed my hand "I'm surprised" James said looking Tony over and smiled "why?" he asked squeezing my hand "I swear, I didn't expect to see you walking around so soon." James said and I felt like he was trying to say something but I was being over protective. "I'm doing a little better then walking" Tony said nodding then looked at James "really?" he crossed his arms getting serious to "yeah. Rhodey, I'm working on something big. I came to talk  to you. I want you to be part of it" Tony told him and I knew it wasn't for the military but they way he said it "you're about to make a whole lot of people around here real happy" James said smiling again "cause that little stunt at the press conference, that was a doozy" he said. Tony sighed "this is not for the military. I'm not... It's different." he said carefully and calmly "what? you're a humanitarian now or something?" James asked offended looking Tony over "your ok with this?" he asked me and I sighed "why dose everyone keep asking me that? I support Tony, I'm not his keeper. I'm his girlfriend I can't tell him what do to" I told James so looked back at Tony "I need you to listen to me" Tony tried to talk  "no. what you need is time to get your mind right. I'm serious" James said and I looked at Tony who just smiled a smile "okay" then we walked away from James "what are you working on?" I asked as we got to the car. He looked at me and studied me "don't worry about it" he said and I sighed looking out the window "ok" I nodded. I was starting to worry bout Tony "hey listen I just... I need time ok?" he said and I gave him a small smile "ok" I nodded at him, Once we got back to his house I sat down on the couch and watched the day go by "Emma? what are you doing?" Pepper asked me making me look away from the water "I'm just thinking" I said quietly. she sat next to me "whats wrong?" she asked me, I sighed "yesterday Tony seemed so happy to see me and didn't want me to leave his side but today I kind of feel like he's pushing me away..." I told her and she sighed sadly and hugged me "you know what I'm gonna head home. I need to Check on Henry and daddy's gone for a few days. Andy and Justin are doing things so" I said and she sighed but nodded "ok but if you need anything call me" she told me and I smiled at her "thanks pepps" walking up stairs to get my stuff I need to wash.  Once I got it all I sat on the bed for a moment and pulled myself together "get home, oh! that fireman's fundraiser is tonight!" I said to myself as I pulled out of the drive way "I told daddy I would go for the Rolling Stones" I continued talking to myself till I got home and pulled Henry out "I'm so confused" I laid down on my bed with him on my chest "what do you think?" I asked him as I watched him for a moment "I have to get ready" I  put him away and pulled put a sexy short white dress, threw make up on and shoes then left after feeding Henry. I had a few pictures taken and made it inside. I talked to a few people laughing with them and just relaxed.

*Tony's Pov*

I walked into the fundraiser up to the bar slapping money down on the bar "Give me a scotch. I'm starving" I asked and turned around looking around at people "Mr. Stark" somebody said nest to me "yeah?" I asked looing at him "agent Coulson" He said formally "Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. The guy from the..." I said slightly remembering him as he said where he was from "God you need a new name for that" I told him then looked through the crowed and saw Emma a  looking amazing as always and wondered when she left the house 'your an asshole Tony!' I thought watching her talk to people around her "hey umm I have to go" then I walked off towards her "you look amazing" I said walking up to her "Tony! what are you doing here?" she asked surprised to see me here "when did you leave?" I asked pulling her to the dance floor "shortly we got back from seeing James" she told me and I put my forehead against hers "I'm so sorry... I got my mind set on this new project and I completely ignored you love" I said softly and she sighed looking me in the eyes, I couldn't help but smiled as I got lost in her eyes "I love you so much you know that" I told her making her smile up at me "I love you too Tony" she said lightly kissing me "come one lets go get a drink" I said once the song was over. As we waited the woman Christen something or another walked over to us "wow. Tony Stark. Fancy seeing you here" she said hitting the bar and smiled tightly at Emma "you have a lot of nerve showing up here tonight" she said making me slightly confused  "can I at least get a reaction from you?" she asked and I looked at Emma "Panic. I would say panic is my reaction" I told her cause it was true I panicked when I saw Emma "cause I was referring to your company's involvement in this latest atrocity" she said and I sighed. "yeah. they just put my name on the invitation. I don't know what to tell you" I said truthfully then looked at Emma as she looked at me confused and shrugged.  "I was out of town for a couple of months, in case you didn't hear" I told her not really sure what she was talking about "is this what you call accountability?" she suddenly asked me giving mea few pictures, I flipped through them and I heard Emma gasp looking over my shoulder "its a town called Gulmira. Hears of it?" she asked as I kept looking at them "when were these taken?" I asked her looking up at her, I grabbed Emma's hand in my own "yesterday" she said and Emma squeezed my hand. I frowned  "I didn't approve any shipment" I told her pulling away from the bar "well your company did" she threw back at  me "well Tony's not his company" Emma said and I pulled her away with me.

*Emma's Pov*

As we walked outside I stopped short of  "I'm gonna head home Tony and he frowned shaking his head "please come back with me? I got something I wan to show you" he asked me I sighed but smiled "is this your new thingy" I asked him and he nodded "I want you be the first to see it... before  I use it" he told me making me smile at him "I'll be there Tony" then I kissed him. The cameras went crazy trying to get the picture. Tony wrapped an arm around my wait pulling my against him as he deepened the kiss with his tongue, I moaned slightly and pulled away for breath "what was that for?" I asked him breathless "that was a I'm sorry kiss" he said and I smiled at him "you can apologize like that whenever you want" I told him and walked away "I'll see you later Tony" I said getting into my car, watching as Tony talked to Obadiah and looking mad. I frowned but hoped he would tell me later when he shows me his new project.
