Prema's P.O.V

April 6th.

"Some of you may, or may not know this." our teacher, Ms. Amber crossed her legs. "But, the seniors get a huge trip to some state, right before their prom and graduation." she smiled. Everybody cheered and high-fived each other. Jacob and his friends smiled brightly. "Prema, will you come pass out the permission slips?" she asked. I sighed. I hated when the attention was settled on me. I got up and walked down the aisle, towards her desk. Of course, people like Janice, had to stick their foot out and trip me. I stumbled a bit, and I almost landed flat on my face. The class abrupted into laughter. Say I'm going blind, but I could've swore, I saw Jacob chuckling. I shook my head and continued walking to the desk. She handed me the stack of papers.

Annual 12th Grade (Senior) Trip To N.Y.C

Dear parents and/or guardians. I am pleased to inform that, this will be the last trip, until your student graduates from high school! We feel as though the students, here at Thomas Smith High School, your children deserve the best. They've worked hard, all year long. They've been respectful, and we just want to give back. The amount due for this trip is $56.90. This covers the airplane ride, from Chicago to New York City.  The school will take their funds and pay for the hotels and everything. Just sign the attached sheet (Contact Information) and send in the payment of $56.90 by April 14th. We'll be going off to New York, April 20th. Thank you for your time. God Bless.

I was so excited! I'd never been anywhere except for Indiana and Chicago. So, to get out of that area was a blessing! I was just bummed out because I knew once we got on the airplane, Jacob wouldn't sit next to me. And, once we got in New York, he wouldn't even talk to me. I sighed and sat back down in my seat, after passing out the papers. Once I sat down, people immediately began to giggle. I was curious. And, then I sat back up. Only to discover that there was a huge wad of gum stuck to the pocket of my shorts. I sighed and raised my hand. "May I go to the bathroom?" she nodded and handed me a hall pass. I gladly accepted it and ran into the bathroom.

Craig's P.O.V

"Man, that was a masterpiece." Jacob chuckled. Chrestano and Rayon, had planted the gum on Prema's chair. They laughed at it as she walked out of the room. But, I felt utterly bad. "No. That was wrong." I quickly defended her. They all snapped their heads in my direction. "That was funny." Jacob shook his head at my opinion. "It wouldn't been funny if someone would've stuck it in your hair, would it?" I retorted, disgusted. I knew it hurt him, badly. But, I didn't care. "Sometimes Jacob, you're a real jerk." I shook my head and excused myself from the room. I walked to the Girls' bathroom. Yeah, I said it. The Girls' bathroom. I don't care if it makes me less of a man, for checking up on someone in need. I opened the door slowly, and saw Prema furiously scrubbing the back of her pants with a piece of napkin. "Here. Lemme' get it." I offered and took the napkin from her. I slowly, scrubbed up and down. And soon, the pieces of Gum began to disolve. "Thank you." she said quietly. "I'm Craig." I introduced myself. Even though, Jacob had done it previously. "I'm Prema. I see you're the nice one." she sighed. "Yeah. I guess I am." I smiled. "Are you going on the trip to New York?" she asked. "Yeah. You?" I questioned. "Maybe." she shrugged. "It's not like I don't enjoy talking to you. . But, I mean. I am in the GIRLS' bathroom. This is a little awkward." I shoved my hands in my pockets. "Oh. Yeah right!" she jumped up. Just as I was about to leace, she stood on her tippy toes and hugged me tightly. "Thank you." she said uietly before letting go.

Home Prema's P.O.V

I held the permission slip in my hand, as I waited for Mom to walk in the door, any second. I breathed in and out. Asking things from Mom, could be easy. Or, very difficult. I heard the door twisting and unlocking and that was my cue to prepare myself for the outcome of whatever happened. "Hey mom!" dang, the twins beat me to it. "Hey babies. Homework finished?" she questioned immediately. They nodded their head and smiled. "Can we please go to the Zoo next month?! The cost is $25.00 each." they smiled. "I dunno' . . " she started. "PLEASEEEEE?!" they screeched. She bent down to hug them, and laughed. "Fine. Leave your permission slip out on the dining table after dinner." she agreed. They skipped happily towards their room. "Hey Mom. Can I talk to you for a second?" she sighed and walked towards me. "Yeah?" she got settled in a seat across from me. "We're going to New York. It costs $56.00 dollars. Can I go?" I quickly asked her. She squeezed her eyes shut and held her breath. "How about no?" she smiled. "It's not fair! You lettin' the twins go to the Zoo!" I yelled.

"You know what? Fine. I don't care about you anymore. Now, I see why Dad left you."

I ran upstairs into my room, unlocked my phone and dialed Dad's new phone number. "Hello?" he asked sleepily. "Hey Dad." I smiled. "Hey Prema." he replied back. "What're you up to?" I questioned. "Nothing. I'm very tired from preparing for Karma's baby shower in two months." he replied. "Karma. Your girlfriend?" I asked. "Yeah." he replied. "Dad. I was wondering if I could have $56.00 dollars or a school trip?" I bit my lip waiting or his response. "Of course. I'll be there tomorrow to drop it off." I smiled brightly. "Can you bring Karma? I wanna meet her." I grinned evilly. I knew my Mom would get jealous.

The next day. I went to school. Had a nice conversation with Craig. Turns out, I'd be sitting with him on the airplane. I was excited about that. After school, I didn't see Jacob. Like usual. Dad pulled into the driveway and I jumped from the sofa. Everybody was in the living room, curious as to who was coming. And, why was I so excited. "Is that. . Daddy?!" The girls screamed. "Pops here, Lloyd!" Luis cheered. I glanced over at Mom, who's face was smiling ever so brightly. Little did she know, her bubble was about to be bursted. I walked outside. "Hey Dad." I greeted him and hugged him softly. He handed me an envelope full of the money and he signed my permission slip. I thanked him and let him talk to my other siblings. Karma was in the car. "I'm so glad you've come back! We can work this marriage out, Lorenzo." Mom cooed over him. She touched him and kissed his cheek. Just then, Karma walked out of the car and stood next to Dad. He rubbed her stomach and kissed her cheek.

"I have a fiancee' now. You have to respect that." he shrugged. I knew Mom was hurt. But, I was happy and guilty at the same time!
