 Prema P.O.V

"They throw dirt on my name, that's why they still dig me."  I was jamming to the songs on my iPod. As I continuously texted Craig. He told me he was applying for some type of college. I was happy for him. But, he was applying for college in Atlanta. His favorite city. I skipped to the next song. Just then, my brothers popped in my room. "Hey P! We've got something to show you!" Lloyd grinned. I feared it'd be something bad. I mean, it's not on a daily basis that my brothers come in my room, and spark a conversation. "What is it?" I questioned curiously. They shook their heads and grabbed my hands. Literally, dragged me out of bed. I sighed and walked down the stairs, into the living room, as my Mom held up a box.

She too, was grinning.

"Prema!" She exclaimed. I sighed and smiled weakly. "Yeah?" I asked. "Your cap and gown arrived. Try it on!" She smiled excitedly. I slowly grabbed the box and looked inside. There it was. My cap and gown that I would soon wear in about 4 weeks. "Come right back downstairs when you're finished!" She ordered. I gripped the box tightly and walked back in my room. You'd think my Mom was graduating high school. I slowly took off my cami top, and I slid the gown over my head. Then, I placed the cap on my head and let my curls flow out of it. I smiled in the mirror. "Almost finished." I glowed. I placed my emerald earrings that Uncle Daniel gave me, and my Great Grandma's pearls from my Dad's side of the family. I walked downstairs and gripped the banister.

"You look so cute!" She exclaimed. I blushed. I kinda liked all the attention on me. It's not like it's everyday that my Mom's praising me. "Glad I got one child that's doing right." She mumbled in my ear. I looked straight at Lloyd and knew she was talking about him. A 19 year old, drop out with a whore for a girlfriend. I smirked. After Mom took many pictures of me in my outfit, she ordered me to immediately take it off. Fearing that I'd get it dirty. Okay, sure whatever. I trailed back upstairs and placed on my previous outfit. I grabbed my phone, to see another text from Craig.

Then, I got a phone call. I sighed and went to the call app. "I thought hearing your voice would be better." Craig laughed. I chuckled at his foolishness. "So, what's the good news?" I questioned as I opened a new bottle of nail polish. I began to paint my toes. "Well, I've found a great college, that has the program, I want to study." I could tell he was smiling through the other end of the phone. "That's great, baby! I'm so happy for you!" I exclaimed. "I'll be getting an email from them shortly, around the end of June. Then, I have to go in for a interview around July. And by August, I'll be notified if I got in or not. But, I'm not just going to stop there. What if I don't get accepted. I'll be bummed out. I need a back up plan. Which is why I applied for another school." I smiled at how inspiring he was. He really had a dream, and he was achieving it before my eyes. "You're so smart babe." I grinned. "What about you?" He questioned. I could hear things shuffling in the back round. "What about me?" I asked.
