the sunlight shone through the windows and hit my eyelids with a brutally bright light. i groaned in response to the relentless wake up call, willing the sun to return over the horizon so i didn't have to choose the regiment to join today. my chance of denying the day was crushed as a ginger haired idiot burst into the room. there were multiple screams of embarrassment as the girls already up and changing started to throw things at the smirking man.

"fox! what the hell are you doing in the girls dorms! get the hell out!" someone yells at the intruder.

"i only came to say good morning to you ladies, and to make sure angel gets off of her lazy ass and is ready for choosing in a few hours. if she's not at breakfast in five minutes then i'll come check on her again," he shrugged and left. when he was out of sight all the girls in the room dragged me out of bed and practically did my whole morning routine in three minutes, amazing what the teenage girl is capable of when she wants privacy. they shoved me out of the room and slammed the door behind, like i were just a filthy animal. to most of the 105th i am just a filthy animal, with my strange appearance people shun me from society, everyone but three particular boys. i grew up with Lukas, karma, and Toni, they're the only friends i have ever had, but the fact that they are all men gets me called a whore quite a bit. i shuffle slowly to breakfast letting my bright red hair fall into my eyes that were also a bright bloody red.

the mess hall was fairly empty with the exception of a few stragglers, but most were outside by this time, most likely enjoying the hateful sun that woke me from my slumber.

"yo Engel!" karma yelled from across the large room, he was sitting with Lukas and Toni already eating. i walked over to him and sat at the table.

"weird how we wont be seeing this place anymore, isn't it?" Toni asked whilst sweeping his hazel orbs around the mess hall. we all nod in agreement.

"so, angel, have you decided what regiment to join yet? we're all following you," Lukas queries.

"why would you follow me? you're just letting me decide your fates," i said trying to make them change their minds.

"we trust you with our lives," they grin in accord.

~~~timeskip to the choosing ceremony~~~
"- those who do not wish to join the scout regiment may now leave to join the legion of your choice." the commander said with a strong, authoritative voice. my feet stayed stuck to the ground. i trembled madly, still remembering the commander's speech, it was almost as if he didn't want any new recruits, that or he wants to be so brutally honest that he only wants those with no will to live to join.
i violently shook my head, and stood my ground, feeling three pairs of eyes on me the entire time. once there was no longer any movement commander Erwin solutes to us and says these official words to make us officially members of the scouting legion.
"you are the bravest and strongest of the 105th trainees, congratulations you are now members of the scouting legion. wear the wings of freedom with honor, for humanity!"
i don't get the chance to see who is still here as i salute to the blond man, but when i turn around i'm shocked to see that Karma, Toni, Lukas, and i are the only ones still standing.
