i am now dressed and in the new mess hall, i have to admit that everywhere i've looked so far was damn near spotless, color me impressed. a few tables from where i'm sitting with jean, the elis', and lukas, i see a table filled with dirty trays and plates with leftover food strewn around.
"gross," i say standing up. the four boys stare at me as i make my way to the messy table, but they look away and continue conversing anyway. "how can people just leave a mess like this sitting around?" i sigh, "we're people, not pigs." i mutter as i begin stacking up the plates and trays, putting them to the side to bring to the kitchen momentarily. gathering up the leftover food onto a plate, i take it over to the garbage, toss the food in, make my way over to the table again, and take the other dishes along to the kitchen where i clean them to perfection. now that i look around the kitchen, it's a mess as well. i groan and get working. sweeping and mopping the floors, wiping down the counters, cleaning the stove, polishing the china, and the like chores when i was done i heaved a sigh.
"well that's done," i grumble. the clock in the room reads 6:36, there's still a lot of time before most wake up at 8:30.
"hey angel! could you cook us some breakfast please?" lukas yells from the cafeteria. i sigh and agree.
what to make, what to make.... oh! waffle cakes could be nice! i think, doing some cooking math.
"okay then that's gonna be 15 waffles, four teaspoons of butter, five cups of whipped cream, and three cup of mixed berries..." i mumbled off the checklist and the kitchen had everything i needed. "okay, let's get cooking!" i cheered

"ohhhhhhhh, god that was so good lexi~" karma groaned in happiness. the rest of the boys only nod and thank me for breakfast.
"yeah yeah, your welcome guys," i rolled my eyes at them.
"and what is going on here?" a stony voice asks silencing the praise.
jean stands and salutes the short man, "we're eating breakfast sir," he states.
"and who made this breakfast if i may ask, it certainly wasn't the chef, he isn't even awake yet," he queried jean.
"i did sir," i stood up, now that im actually paying attention, hes about the same height as me, maybe a bit shorter, but close.
"and who authorised you to use the kitchen cadet?" he was giving me the stink eye, as if telling me to do what he says or i'll regret it.
"n-no one sir, i apologise," i said looking down, ashamed.
"since you like the kitchen so much you can clean it today, go." he says, turning and beginning to walk away.
"already done sir," i say.
"oh? then you won't mind if i check it." the corporal said whilst walking into the kitchen. he inspected the room thoroughly before walking out again. "well done cadet, but that does not excuse you for using the kitchen without permission, therefore you will be running errands today."
"yes sir," i said, "what is my first task?"
"first you will be feeding the horses, then report back to my office and i will assign you another," he says coldly. i salute once again before walking off to find the stables. the castle was daunting walking around alone in, everyone was still asleep after all. i stop for a moment, finding my bearings and heaving a sigh.
"cadet enjel, what are you up to this early in the morning?" a voice asked. i flinched at the sudden noise in what was once a dead silent hall.
"trying to find the stables sir," i said facing the commander and saluting. he raised an eyebrow before gesturing to follow him, and so i did.
"why are you looking for the stables?" commander erwin asked. i put my head down.
"the corporal assigned me a task," i said plainly. 'i wonder if he's afraid, i don't think so. he's probably seen much worse than someone with strange hair and eyes. i guess i'm not scary then?'
"yeager came to see me earlier today, he mentioned you had a nightmare..." he trailed off, allowing me to take up the sentence for him.
"it's nothing new sir," i said quietly, looking intently at the floor. he nods quickly.
"i want you to find hanji after this task alright?" he asks, letting his voice harden once again.
"hanji?" i asked clueless. he just chuckles softly.
"right, right, i forgot you're new here, so i'll explain some things to you," he said. and so he started explaining things about the regular day schedule, who hanji was, and the like. when he was finished giving me pointers and explanations we arrived at the stables; i took note of the route and burned it into my mind. i turned and stooped down in a bow, thanking the commander.
"thank you sir, it was a large help," i say. as i walked into the stables, the pungent, repulsive scent of the area almost caused bile to drip from my mouth. after regaining my senses i got to work.

i needed another shower, pronto, i don't care how pissed stone face is, this is worse than urgent. i walked to the shower, only to be stopped by jean. he opened his mouth to say something, but was never able to utter a single word. instead he clamped his mouth shut and pinched his nose.
"i know, i stink," i muttered, "i'm going to take another shower, see ya around jean." and with that i walked to the girls shower. i turned the shower on and stripped off the noxious uniform, tossing it into the bin to be washed. the steaming water hit me like a leather glove, almost stinging my skin as i stepped into the shower. my skin soon grew accustomed to the temperature.
i wonder if i made the right choice... i thought to myself.
sorry it took sooooo long, i've had this done for a while, but just didn't publish it on account of my forgetting and being a butt
