(Lightning's POV)

After several hours of calming Jesse down and assuring her I wasn't going to hurt her, I finally had her parked in my parking area. I sighed and looked up at the clock. It read 8:09. Crap! I was late to pick up Sally for our date. I have to call her.

I looked at Jesse. She was parked on the floor, hyperventilating. She looked alright. Who am I kidding, she looked awful. I slowly drove towards her and she looked up at me.

"I'm gonna go call my girlfriend. Will you be alright for a couple minutes?" I asked.

She slowly nodded, and I went to make the call. I dialed Sally's number and waited. After a few rings she answered, "Stickers. Where are you? I'm ready for our date."

I sighed, "Um...I'm at home. Uh...there's been a...change of plans..."

The other side was silent, waiting for me to continue. I paused and looked back into my living room to see Jesse wasn't there. Where did she go?!

"Stickers, are you okay?"

I had to do something. "Um....I have to go. Sorry Sally!"

I hung up the phone. Why was I so nervous to talk to her? Probably because if she saw me with Jesse, she might think I'm cheating on her. Would she?

I then remembered, Jesse. She wasn't in the living room, or anywhere in the house. Suddenly I heard a loud scream from outside. I looked out my window to see Jesse, screaming at Mater.

I sped out of the house and to the commotion. Mater and Jesse were screaming at each other, both too startled to do anything else. I finally cut in between them and pulled Jesse aside.

"Jesse! What're you doing!? You're causing a scene!" I whisper shouted.

Jesse stared at me, looking as if she was about to cry, when Sally drove over. Oh, great.

Sally drove up and stared at the three of us. "What's with all the screaming?" she asked.

I gulped. Should I tell her I have a car/human girl with me or lie. Don't lie! That only makes it worse.
I smiled, "Oh, the screaming. Well, Mater and my ahhhhh.....sister! Yeah sister just met and they decided to have a screaming competition. Yeah.....so...."

Sally looked at me, confused. "A...screaming competition?"

I nodded, "Yep. You know how Mater and his games goes. Well, we are going to my house so Mater can get to know my sister better. Come on Mater, Jesse."

Then we were gone. I hated lying to her, but I didn't want her to get scared, or too suspicious.
I pushed Mater and Jesse into my house and forced them both to sit. I started pacing in front of them.

"Alright, Jesse, you have some explaining to do." I said.

She gathered herself and started explaining.

"Well, I am 16 years old, my name is Jesse Loster. My father is Greg Loster, or as you know him, Captain Loster. My mother died in a car accident, unfortunately, and I'm still in high school. Yesterday, I woke up from my sleep, and I was in a weird room. My dad was there and he sent me through some, I don't even know what it was, and I woke up here."

I nodded. Her story reminded me of when I ended up in the human world 10 years ago. I couldn't just leave her to try and get back herself. We had to help her.

"Okay, here's the plan," I started, "We're going to help you get home, but I need you to absolutely, positively listen to every direction I give you. If you want to get home, I have to have your full cooperation. Understand?"

She smiled and nodded.

"Yes! I promise. I'll do anything to get back home."

I smiled and sighed, "Good. Well, for now you can stay in the extra space in my garage. Mater, you are not to tell ANYONE about Jesse. If they ask, she is my sister. Got it?"

Mater nodded," I promise not to tell no one."

I nodded and drove towards my room," Now, if anyone needs me, I'll be in my room thinking about...all of this."

They nodded and I closed my door and parked in my bed. Everything was falling apart. Not only was the racing season starting next week, but now I have to deal with this whole human business.

I was almost asleep, lost in thought, when I remembered something. 10 years ago, before the war, Scarlet gave me a box before I left the human world. She told me to not open it until I needed it. I had a feeling, I was going to need it very soon.
