Ambush for the Heart

Keira's body was frozen in place, the ominous presence behind her chuckled, seeing she was scared.

"Don't worry, I'll make sure to kill you last." He growled, Keira narrowed her eyes and curled her fist. Her body refused to move but she still fought her fears. Zeref's red eyes glowed in the sun that poured into the guild, black fog encircled him then shot out at all directions, hitting everyone in the guild.

Keira was flung foreword from the attack and landed on another table. She rolled onto her back and saw Zeref advancing on her, putting up her hands, the heels of her palms together she blocked the next shadow attack but just barely.

Keira wrapped shadows around Zeref's ankle and threw him towards the door of the guild. Fairy Tail lined up between him and the guild hall. Zeref stood up, not a scratch on his body. He laughed and backed out of the guild, his eyes glinting in triumph.

"How did he get in here?" Erza said, her eyes wide and alert.

"What is he after?" Lucy asked, blood trickling down her left leg. Gildarts, who was standing next to Keira stiffened when Lucy asked her question.

"Gildarts?" Keira asked, her heart racing. Gildarts stayed silent for a moment before whispering two words,

"Lumen Histoire." Gildarts rumbled, the whole guild turned towards him in horror. Lumen Histoire, or Fairy Heart, was Fairy Tail's and Ishgar's biggest weapon: unlimited magic energy. Suddenly the ground underneath the Fairy Tail wizards shook. A tower rose into the sky, breaking through the guild hall.

The tower soared into the sky, more than five stories high. At the top Keira could see a yellowy crystal that held Mavis' body. Keira covered her eyes from the rubble that fell to the ground. She turned and saw Zeref looking up at the tower, grinning like a fool.

"Keira, Natsu, and Erza! Get to the top of the tower and protect the crystal!" Gildarts ordered, Keira and the others nodded. They ran out into the open and headed for the tower. A black beam of magic narrowly missed Keira's head.

"Get inside!" Keira yelled, dodging flying pieces of rock. The three made it safely inside and started to climb the tower. Parts of it were blown up and fell off, leaving the wizards exposed to the outside. They raced up the many stairs until they came to the top. No one else was there except for the small human encased in crystal.

Another explosion sent debris flying and Keira looked back and saw Zeref, still on the ground. Attacking the tower he aimed to bring down the wizards from Lumen Histoire.

"Keep your guard up!" Erza said, requipping into her Black Wing armor. Natsu stood near the edge, his fists engulfed in flames while Keira stood with her rapier out and ready. Another explosion hit the top of the tower but Keira noticed that it wasn't Zeref's magic.

Keira saw three people enter the tower from the hole that was blown away.

"Guardians!" Keira gasped, seeing the translucent wings that Guardians were granted when they passed their final exam to become a true Guardian. Natsu took on one but the other two aimed for Erza. They pushed Erza back towards the edge of the tower.

Keira ran foreword, gouging deep lacerations into the Guardians' backs. One fell foreword, onto Erza, and both fell out of the tower.

"Erza!"Natsu yelled but her Black Wing armor saved her from a nasty fall. Natsu clenched his fist tighter, his whole body burning up in flames. "Fire Dragon Wing Attack!" Waves of fire raked the two remaining Guardians. The tower trembled from the shock waves from the attack. Keira came up beside Natsu,

"Apocalypse Dragon Roar!" The Guardians were thrown out of the tower, their bodies covered in cuts and bruises.

Keira turned back to the crystal when another magic attack created an explosion. Natsu was flung into the tower, landing near the crystal. The tower shook again, its supports starting to fail. Keira froze, making sure the tower wasn't going to collapse on itself.
