The War Begins

When they finally made cover Keira laid Erza down on some grass along with Natsu and Lucy. Wendy crouched over Natsu and listened to his breathing and vitals.

"His breathing is shallow!" Wendy called out, she tried to find some reason why and started to use her cure magic on him. Keira could sense panic rising in the Sky Dragon Slayer. After a few moments Wendy stood up, "What do I do? They're not getting any better!" Wendy was freaking out, pacing in front of Keira. Happy was splayed on the ground, barely able to lift his head from exhaustion.

Keira reached out and grabbed Wendy's arm, she softly tugged her back down to the ground.

"They'll be fine, I promise" Keira said, she rolled Natsu over, it was true his breathing was shallow and Keira could see his lungs skip a couple breaths every once in a while. Keira pulled out her sword and made a small incision in the nape of Natsu's neck.

Brushing away his rosy hair she massaged the skin around the cut. After a couple seconds two tiny, silver capsules poked out. Keira took them out and laid them next to Natsu's body. Using the end of her sword's hilt she busted open the capsules.

Soft yellow light flowed out of them and seeped into Natsu's skin. Keira saw his chest take a big heave then return to a normal steady rhythm.

"Amazing" Wendy breathed, Keira handed her the sword,

"Do that to the others and they'll be just fine." Keira instructed, Wendy nodded and moved over to Erza. Keira went and found some dry wood and two stones, striking them together she made fire, a small one but fire none the less.

She sat against a tree, watching the flames lick the navy sky. When Wendy was finished with the others she handed Keira her sword back and sat next to Keira, her teeth chattering in to cold breeze.

"How did you know about that?" Wendy asked, after a moment. Rubbing her arms and extending them over the fire. Keira paused before answering, she couldn't ignore the question but what she was about to say would frighten the little girl.

"Its a Guardian technique to achieve artificial immortality. The process starts with your victims, alive. Those machines that you saw would insert two capsules with will consume all of your magic energy and then your life force. Thus killing you." Keira caught Wendy's terrified look, guilt rose inside of Keira.

Wendy was silent for a long time before she spoke in a whisper,

"Have you ever used this..." Wendy's voice trailed off, Keira turned and looked the little girl dead in the eye.

"Yes, but only once" Keira murmured,

"W-Who?" Wendy asked, afraid to know the answer. Keira paused and prepared to answer the question.

"My mother" she answered, looking away from Wendy who made a slight gasp but covered her mouth quickly. "Lets get some sleep," Keira said, turning her back towards Wendy, leaning on the hard bark of the tree. She slid down onto the ground, before she slipped off into a light doze Keira put up a force field around the campsite.

Dawn light danced on Keira pale, scarred face and woke her up. She saw that Wendy was talking with Lucy, Erza, and Natsu who were awake and bright eyed. She pushed herself into a sitting position and rubbed her head, brushing her long hair back with her fingers.

Keira caught Natsu's glare out of the corner of her eye but pretended that she didn't see it. Wendy must have told them what she told her last night. Keira stood up and stretched,

"We need to get to the rendezvous point." Keira said, they were supposed to be there yesterday but that was interrupted by their little incident with the Guardians. Everyone else stood in silence, Lucy avoided Keira's eyes while Erza stayed indifferent and Natsu was steaming with anger.

By early morning all of them met up with the rest of the group at the rendezvous point.

"Where were you guys?" Gray asked getting to his feet at the sight of them. Keira held his stare for a second and when no one else piped up she answered him,

"We were caught up with some Guardians. We found a camp of theirs-" Keira was cut off by Natsu,

"Found?! More like we almost died there!"

"It wasn't my fault! Stop being a baby!" Keira retorted sharply, curling her hands into fists. Natsu closed his mouth and the two Dragon Slayers glared at each other for a long time until Juvia spoke.

"Were there others at the camp?" She asked,

"Probably, we didn't go snooping but they might know where the rest of them are, maybe even where Zeref is." Keira said hearing Natsu grumble behind her.

"Then shouldn't we go and check?" Juvia asked turning to Gray, her cheeks turning bright pink. Gray nodded in agreement,

"Lead the way, Keira." He said, Keira nodded and turned around, setting off towards the Guardian camp. When they got into the vicinity of the camp Keira saw the gate was still closed and guards were set every hundred feet. One of them called out when they saw the large group of wizards approaching.

A tall, thin man came out of a door way, flanked by six other Guardians.

"Fancy seeing you here, Head Guardian." He jeered, the others laughed with him.

"Micheal" Keira said curtly. "I'm not here to talk," she pulled out her sword, pointing the tip at Micheal. He smirked and stepped foreword, in the blink of an eye he was behind Keira, two long knives in his hands. He turned and thrust the knives towards her throat. Keira knocked them away.

Micheal back flipped and threw a knife mid flip. Keira went to catch it but it sliced open her fingers on her left hand. He rushed Keira again, trying to plunge the knife into Keira's throat. She switched her sword to her other hand and swept past Micheal, snatching the one remaining knife in his hand.

She turned and raised it, the tip pointing to the ground. Grasping his shoulder firmly she dug the blade into the base of his skull. A bone-chilling scream pierced the calm air. Keira pulled the knife down his back, splitting his spine in two. Hundreds of tiny capsules fell out and burst open when they hit the ground. However, instead of entering a human body the magic energy and life forces of hundred of people flowed into Keira's sword.

Everyone was deathly silent as Micheal's lifeless body slumped to the ground. He should have lived through hundreds of fatal blows but Keira killed him in one. His cherry red blood stained the brown floor. Keira dropped the knife and held up her sword,

"Anyone else want to go?" She sneered. The other Guardians looked at each other with uncertainty, but none of them said anything or moved an inch. A group of wizards went inside to look for other prisoners while everyone else stayed outside, monitoring the Guardians. 

Soon the group came out with two extra people, Keira recognized Cobra, the Poison Dragon Slayer and Jellal, Erza's childhood friend that she spoke about on occasion. Both were beaten and weak, the others had to support all their weight. 

The group, along with the captured Guardians, traveled to the nearest town where the Rune Knights who were stationed in that town took the Guardians to the National Prison in the capitol. 

After a day of rest the Fairy Tail wizards made their way back to the guild. A messenger from the Magic Counsel had come and told them to go back home and that the Magic Counsel would take care of the interrogations. They made it back to Fairy Tail with no more excitement except from their guild mates who were happy to see them again. 

Keira sat down at a table, giving out a sigh of relief. Their work was done, the Magic Counsel would take care of the Guardians then all that was Zeref. 

"Zeref!" Keira gasped, the Black Wizard who could not be killed by the laws of man. "What are we going to do?" Keira spoke out loud, but only to herself. 

"Bow down?" A malicious voice said behind her, the hair on the back of Keira's stood up. She hadn't imagined the voice. He was standing right behind her.
