After Rose had finished unpacking, she sat on her bed, looking around the room. It was so much more different to the guys', it was decorated with pictures and girly things, there was different fabrics placed on the ground as carpet, it was just, so much more homely in general. It kind of reminded her of back home.

"Ready?" Erin asked her, holding up a camera.

"Ready... For what?"

"For a picture! Duh!" She giggled, jokingly pointing at the camera with her manicured finger.

"Um... I guess so."

"Alright, well, what you do is, is you pull this face, see?"

Rose nodded. Erin pulled a duckface, squinting her eyes so that her eyelashes looked bigger.

"Yeah, well, you put your shoulders back, and do exactly that!"

Rose copied exactly what Erin was doing as much as she could, as Erin took the picture. "Perfect!" She giggled, standing up and plugging it into a laptop.

"You're allowed computers here?"

"Yeah? Told you Miss Caid's cool." She winked, downloading the photo and printing it off. She grabbed some glue that had sparkles running through it, and did a soft zigzag line around the photo.

"Aw damn!" She cursed, throwing around books and looking under things. "I'm out of bluetack, you have any?"

"Yeah! Actually, I do!" Rose laughed, for the first time in ages. She was actually making a friend, an actual friend.

She opened her draw and found it, giving it to Erin. "Thanks girlie!" She laughed, sticking it to the wall along with all the other photos. Rose smiled, she walked up to the wall, looking at all the photos that had been placed there. There were so many, some old, some new, just like theirs. Rose was actually really happy with the photo, she felt it looked semi-decent, actually.

"Aw, that's cute, who is this?" She asked, pointing to an old, vintage, colour faded photo of two youth cuddling and holding big, bright smiles on their faces. "Oh, that's my parents! That was in North Carolina, I used to live there until my dad's work moved us to Australia, that was back in the day, before they even got married. Anyway, my mom passed away when I was twelve, and now it's just me and my dad. We, fought a lot, and I just, I don't know." She shook her head, a little sad, trying to shake it off Rose put a hand to Erin's shoulder, "God, I'm so sorry, I didn't know!"

"No, it's fine, you don't need to be sorry, I mean, it was nearly six years ago, she wouldn't want me to dwell on it." She tried to put on a brave face.

She turned around, packing up some of the things she chucked around earlier. Rose just looked at the photo, their happy smiling faces actually made her feel awful inside. She never had anything like that. Her mother got pregnant from being raped. Rose felt insignificant, her mother tried to hide it from her, but the close relationship they used to share always brought out the secrets, and soon Rose was told about her being an accident, 'a really good one', her mother would say, but still, she never felt that way. At least she knew her mother really did care about her, she guessed that, that was the main thing. She looked away from the photo as Miss Caid came up the stairs into the room, "Are you settling in alright honey?" The woman asked Rose, "Yeah, sure," Rose nodded happily, "Erin's wonderful." She kept nodding, and Erin smiled a smile she hadn't seen yet before. It was filled with heart, a pure, 'thank you' kind of smile. As if no one had ever told her that, and it meant the world to her. "Well, we have to head to the Hall for dinner at 5pm, we girls get first servings." Rose nodded happily as Miss Caid walked away. "Thanks, Rosey." Erin smiled, nearly looking as if she were about to cry, and they hadn't even known each other an hour yet.
