"We're gonna buy ourselves a little house

Somewhere on the outskirts of California.

I'd wear a yellow sundress and a huge floppy hat

You'd have on a black shirt

In your hand a cigarette.

The house would have two floors

In the first year or so we'd only use the first one

The second floor was way too much for such a cheap couple like us.

The house would be painted blue and have flowers everywhere -

On the windowsills, engulfing the ground, near the front porch -

Just like those pictures on Tumblr tagged under 'cozy homes'.

Our children would play in the back yard

A mess of green eyes (you) and blonde hair (me)."

That's never going to happen.

You're in the back of the class and I'm in the front.

It'd be to perfect to function.
