Chapter 19

"Clu? What is he doing in Argon?" Beck spoke up this time. "And what the heck happened while I was out?" Beck clinched his fists and let out a loud sigh.

"Well after everybody had made it to the Outlands your wrists began to burn." Mara started.

"Yes, I remember that but what I don't remember is what happened after the crash." Beck started to pace not really caring that it was distracting everyone else.

"Let her finish Beck and stop pacing." Paige pulled Beck close to her causing him to stop.

"Anyway," Mara continued. "You fell off the bike and Tron had tried waking you up but it didn't work so he had unmasked you to see if there was a slight chance you were awake. Which you weren't. So then we placed you on my bike and we made it here with no other complications." She paused to catch a breath before continuing. "See with you out of commission Beck we couldn't do much but now that you can work and help us fight. But before we continue we should see what Link was talking about."

Tron came back into the room with a deeper depressed face on than usual. Everyone turned to him and exchanged confused glances. When do he leave? No one dared to ask the question out loud. Although Beck did clear his throat and say: "What'd you find out?"

"The news is grim but what Link said was correct. CLU is here in Argon. Which means we have to work harder to save the programs."

"But here's my question why is he here." Beck moved Paige's arms to walk towards Tron.

"That is still unclear to us all. But we must have hope that we can pull through this."

"And if we don't?"

"Then the grid and all the innocent programs will suffer."

At those words the atmosphere became filled with a lingering threat to them all. No one was safe when the supposed leader was around. No one.

"Beck I will suggest that you get training started." With that Tron excused himself from the room.

"Well isn't he just hopeful." Mara mumbled.

"Give him some time it's not every cycle that you find out your rival shows up unexpectedly." Beck turned to Mara. "Can you finish catching me up to speed on the whole situation?"

"Sure Beck. Now where did we leave off? ahh yes." She continued. "Well how Paige ended up here was because over every own Zed Kidnapped her." Beck stood there with his jaw heading down towards the floor. Then if there couldn't have been a better time for Zed to step into the room it was then. The young program walked right in.

"Hey guys." Zed stopped for a microcycle. He then continued to squint at Beck not really sure if he was actually standing in front of him. "Um Beck is really awake?" He looked at Mara then at Paige. Both knowing Zed would be Zed; he walked up to Beck and poked him in the stomach, then the face, and finally the shoulder.

"Zed you could have just asked me." Beck tried not to laugh but ended up failing.

"Beck your back! And you owe me another bike." Zed embraced him in a hug. The girls just started to chuckle.

"Really Zed? That's what you're concerned about right now? Not me but your bike." Beck just held him tighter until he wheezed a little. They pulled away and Zed finally noticed that Link was on the ground.

"What's Link doing on the ground?" Zed looked at him awkwardly for a nanocycle before lifting him onto the bed. Not noticing another program there.
