Phew!Just as I stepped in the cafe,it started pouring outside.I glanced at my watch,3:30.I was supposed to meet my boyfriend,Hyun Jong,here at 4 to pick me up for our date.I came here early as I wanted to get a caramel macchiato before we head out.Wait.Isn't that hyun Jong?I could hear his laughter a few tables across.There,I saw a sight that I didn't want to believe every single bit of it.I saw Hyun Jong with another girl,kissing and cuddling together in this rainy day.
I sat a few tables across and watched them with pain and sadness.A single tear escaped from my eye.Hyun Jong looked at his watch and quickly asked the random girl to go.She base him farewell with a kiss,and whispered something in his ear before heading out with a umbrella.I wiped my tears and walked to him with heavy footsteps.There was only him,me and the waiter in the store.He should be glad only the waiter was here to watch this embarrassing scene of his.
"Oh!Sujeong!You're early today!"
I gave him a hard slap across his face.I heard the waiter gasp,he should be realizing what was happening by now.
"Fake Liar!You totally deserve that for playing with my feelings!Be happy with your other girl now!"
I ran out of the cafe,letting the rain drops take over me.I didn't care if I was drenched,this felt better after a big heartbreak.
I sat on a bench on the nearby park,letting the rain drench me,with hot tears rolling down my cheeks like rivulets endlessly.
Stupid Hyun Jong.Stupid Girl.Stupid Me!
I hate myself for falling for him!I should have known better!The Lightning struck on the tree behind the bench I was sitting on and loud thunder boomed.This made me cry harder with my hands covering my face.I bet I looked super ugly right now,with my already year stained cheeks and red eyes like a vampire.I stopped feeling the pitter patter of rain on me and felt warmth instead.I slowly tilted my head upwards and removed my hands from my face.I was surprised to see the ️️handsome waiter from before in the cafe.He was holding a polka dot umbrella in his hand,with a grey jacket.
"Are you alright miss?Need some comforting words?Cause my shift is over,and I'm finally out of that boring cafe.Like,nobody even goes there!And so I have all the time in the world to comfort you.I saw what your ex did there,that is no gentleman,how could he leave his girlfriend!?Cheat on her too?Thats just a big no-no"
He said while shaking his head and moving his index finger from right to left.I unknowingly smiled at his cute actions.
"Hey!You smiled!Woohoo,Taehyung succeeded at making a girl cheer up!"
He then threw his umbrella behind him to who-knows-where and did a silly dance in front of me.Gee,he's weird.But he cheered me up a lot,Taehyung is his name?He had good looks,and guessing from his actions,a cheerful 4D personality.He looked around my age,maybe a year older than me?
"Come on miss!We're both drenched,so just dance!Nobody's here anyway!Just dance all those frustrations out!A pretty girl like you shouldn't be wasting her time crying!"
"You know what,you're right!I shouldn't be crying over that jerk of a bastard,I should just dance with you!"
There,we danced in the rain.Strange that I could converse so easily with him as if he was my long time friend.He was just so easy going.We told each other our names and other facts about ourselves,it turns out he's two years older than me.I started calling him Oppa,and I always visited the cafe to keep him company whenever I was free.He did find that polka dot umbrella somehow,saying it's important since it signifies our 'first meeting'.
2 years later
I always didn't understand the importance of that umbrella,I always thought it was just a umbrella that I first saw before my eyes payed on Taehyung that day.But now,I'm glad to say that umbrella has brought us together.Right now,I see Taehyung,my boyfriend,walking towards me under the shelter of that,Polka dot umbrella.
