"Aah, what the?" I said, stirring.
"Hey, thanks for saving our lifes."
Said a female voice. I opened my eyes, and I immediately regretted doing so. It's like waking up from the darkness and your greeted by a bright light as soon as you wake. It's hurts.
"Aah! Shut that light off!"
"This light? We can't. It's uncontrollable. It's called the Sun by the way".
Said the now familiar and female voice. I opened my eyes multiple times. I kept closing and opening them until I adapted. I turned my head to the voice, and opened my eyes. It was a girl named Rachel. She looked terrible. Mud all over her, and bloody scratches decorating her whole body.
"Hey, are you ok?" I ask.
"I'm fine, thank you, just had trouble in the bunker".
"What's with the mud?"
"Well when you passed out, we had to drag you out of the bunker. And we sealed it too. But when we exited the mines within the mountain that the bunker is located in, there was a storm, so as you can see, I got quite messy".
I was dragged out of the bunker, and when they did, they sealed it behind them. I looked around. There were hills, burnt trees, and destroyed houses.
"Where's everyone else?"
"They left to find supplies, and find shelter".
Afterall, we were just chilling out in a destroyed house.
The rest of my saviors got back at about 12. They had found a city, and apparently, a bunch of people found it, fortified it, and now, it's an official city. We had to wait till dawn though, cause it was really dark. They barely found their way back. Through the night, I however, got to know them better. There was Anthony, David, Rachel, and Ariana.
"So...Zeke, how exactly did you survive?" Asked Anthony.
"I've got no idea".
"I miss my video games". David blurted out, in a sad tone, and started sobbing.
We learned from each other how we survived, apparently, they all had luck. And they all agreed that I survived because I'm athletic, and I had studied TV and video games to much. Honestly, if I got my skill through that, then I'm really lucky. I pointed this out, but they still didn't agree with me.
Dawn came the next morning. And I sat and watched as it peaked out from behind the mountain and the hills. It was so beautiful. Just imagine what it could've been like before the bombs fell.
"Alright everybody, get up, we gotta get goin'".
I looked up, David was on his feet, but everyone else just started to stir.
"C'mon, it's not that far, well eat breakfast once we get there".
We got up, and packed our gear. And began, our tiring trek. We walked, for about an hour, when we started to see smoke. This worried us a little bit. But we needed to rationalize. Maybe, just maybe, they were cooking for the whole city. But we couldn't be sure. We walked another 3 miles, before we were at its gates. We started hollering, yelling, and screaming, for someone to open the gates. Noone came. Suddenly, the gates just opened, all by themselves.
We walked in. We heard gunshots coming from the middle of town. We rushed to the center. We popped the corner, and just as we did, a bullet went straight through David's right hand.
We all jumped back behind the wall.
"What is going on?"
I whispered to myself. Just then, like it couldn't get any worse, a big huge hulking piece of metal came moving around the corner. We read about stuff from the Old World, but this, this was was definitely not that old. It had to be modern, because this thing, was using laser cannons. We ran up behind the tank. Scared out of our wits. We stayed behind it while all the fighting was going on. We thought it'd never stop.
But, when it did, we had never been so happy to be alive. Some people found us, and brought us to their HQ, where they gave us food, water, and medical attention to David. It was there, that we also learned that the bunker inhabitants of any bunker, were in danger. This wasn't a war. It was an invasion. And we had to defend ourselves from it.-----------------------------------------------------------
Upcoming POV
I was walking along a flat part of the wastleland. I knew the radiation would slowly start consuming me. Luckily, I had found a gas mask a few days ago. But the radiation had already done a toll on my body. My face had a few splotches of purple, and my hands had some too. BAM! My thoughts had been interrupted by an explosion. A big one, I already saw the smoke crawling upwards through the air."Well," I said to myself, "time to go search for goods."
