"Mr. Potter, would you mind explaining why Electra was not at your side today?"

"Yes, I would very much mind."

Dumbledore gave the boy a kind smile.

"I was just being kind, Mr. Potter. You don't have a choice."

James huffed.

"I don't want to talk about it, Professor Dumbledore."

James, getting tired of Dumbledore's gaze, finally sighed.

"We got in a fight because I wanted her to go outside for a bit and leave me alone. I told her that in a much.. ruder.. way than I intended to. She left. That's all."

Dumbledore raised an eyebrow at him.

"And you did nothing about it?"

James frowned.

"No.. was I supposed to?"

Dumbledore sighed and leaned towards James a little, a very serious look on his face.

"Yes."

He leaned back.

"Electra goes to high ground when she's scared. She goes to an area with a lot of water when she's sad. She goes to dangerous places when she's mad. Which areas have all of these qualities on the Hogwarts Grounds?"

"The Astronomy Tower, the Black Lake, and.."

James paused, realization dawning on him.

"You don't mean-"

Dumbledore give a single nod. James jumped out of his seat and ran towards the door.

"I'll be back later!" He called over his shoulder.

Dumbledore gave James an encouraging smile and watched as the boy darted down the corridors. All James had needed was a little push to get going.

*~*~*

"Electra!" James yelled.

Electra sat next to the tree, gently stroking it.

"What, James?" She snapped. "Weren't you the one who had told me to leave you alone? Yet here you are, coming after me!"

James clutched his side and took a deep breath, putting his hand on the tree for support.

"I wouldn't-"

James had only then realized what he had done and gave Electra a horrified look. One of the Whomping Willow's branches grabbed him by his legs and swung him up in the air. He was getting dizzy already as the Willow swung him in circles. Electra watched in some horror and some amusement, and she only helped when James looked like he were about to faint.

"Willow," She said, stroking the tree again.

Immediately it stopped, and made a sound that sounded similar to a purr. The tree gently set James down next to Electra and then went still.

She then rounded on James.

"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?" She yelled, striding towards him in two big steps. "NEVER, EVER, EVER COME AFTER AN ANGRY SUPERHUMAN, ESPECIALLY A GIRL, AND ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE'S AS MAD AS I AM NOW! YOU COULD'VE GOTTEN KILLED! DO YOU KNOW WHAT DUMBLEDORE WOULD'VE DONE THEN?"

James cowered back, a guilty look on his face, as she continued ranting on and on until the sun had gone down and it was long past curfew.

He noticed that she didn't stop for breath once.

Once he was beginning to think she was never going to stop, she closed her mouth and took a deep breath, and then glared at James.

"Don't do it again."

"What was I supposed to do? Just let you leave?"

"It was what you wanted to do," She hissed venomously.

James sighed. She had a point.

"Let's call a truces. But don't go super over-protective. I'm okay if I trip over a rock or get a scrape."

Electra rolled her eyes.

"It's in my nature. Don't get all angry if I try to keep you from tripping or getting in trouble- this will take getting used to. Okay?"

James nodded and looked at her again.

"Can we be friends?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean- I don't want you to just be my protector. I want to be friends as well."

Electra pondered the thought and gave a slow nod.

"Okay," she said. "Friends."

He smiled at her and they both turned. Under the dark twilight you could see the two silhouettes of s girl and a boy together, talking and laughing together without a care in the world.

And it was a truly beautiful sight.
