She let out a blood-curdling scream as the whip landed on her back, leaving a harsh mark.
"How many times have I told you that you are to stand in perfect formation and kill the prisoners," he spat.
"Apparently, more," she muttered.
The whip lashed back out at her back and she threw her head back, screaming again.
"Maybe if you would actually listen you wouldn't have to go through this, Electra," he said, tutting at her as he whipped her back again.
She gritted her teeth and squeezed her eyes shut.
"I'm sorry," she breathed.
The whip cracked almost immediately and she screamed, even as it didn't hit her.
"-sir, sir, I'm sorry."
The lashing stopped after two more, and he shook his head at her.
"I resorted to muggle torturing for this. Next time, just kill the useless muggles and maybe we won't have to do this again," he growled, leaving her in the dungeon.
Tears ran down the girl's face and she curled up into an even tighter ball, whimpering as the darkness engulfed the room.
*~*~*
Electra stood still as a board, emotionless, as she raised her wand and readied to perform the finishing spell. The people- people who had lives, people who had children, people who had money- curled underneath her and she sickeningly found herself almost wishing to smirk at their expense.
They stared up at her, fear clouding their eyes. Electra glanced away momentarily, but the burning feeling on her back forced her to stare at the humans.
"Avada Kedavra," she whispered.
The bodies fell slack in front of her. She heard quiet applause from behind her. She turned around to see Tom staring at her.
"What?" she mumbled.
"You actually killed them," he said, sounding impressed.
Electra closed her eyes at the words. They sent a searing pain throughout her entire body, leaving her breathless. But not the physical pain, no, rather the actual inside of her.
She left out a soft groan and squeezed her eyes shut at the feeling, making her feel as though she were on fire. The burning spread throughout her entire body until she could feel it all the way from her head to her feet.
Soon enough, the burning pain went away, and Tom smirked.
"I guess that's enough punishment for today, yes?"
*~*~*Electra thought she was off the hook for the day. Apparently not, because as soon as she had finally rested for about an hour, he came in, wand in hand.
She sat up immediately, already having been over this entire procedure more than once. She forced her eyes open, staring, focused, into his eyes. His lips curled upwards and Electra had to almost physically prevent herself from hurling herself at him right then and there.
"Yes, Dark Lord?"
He raised his wand and pointed it at her. Electra's eyes widened and she began to scramble backwards frantically, voice rising in panic.
"But- but I don't understand! I did everything you- you asked me to, perfectly and well, and you said that what- what happened earlier was enough! That it was- it was okay!"
She felt exacerbated with herself. She was furious that within one motion, he had her a panicking, spluttering mess on the floor, all because of a spell that could cause her the most pain she'd ever felt.
"Please," she whimpered.
Her pleas were ignored.
*~*~*
A few days later, conditions were exactly the same as they had been. Barely any food, barely any social interaction, barely and water, and, well, barely anything. Tom spent all of his waking hours teaching her how to be like him. He already knew she had it in her; all she needed was someone or something to activate it.
In total, over the time Electra had been with Tom, she had killed fifteen muggles. Fifteen lives she had taken, ended too early, far before they were supposed to be ended.
She knew it was her fault, too, and that was possibly the worst part of all of it. It was all because she couldn't take the pain that was thrown at her, though she felt like the should've been able to. Should've held out longer.
Electra knew it was no use, cogitating over the past. It would do nothing to change her decision. It would change absolutely nothing to the path she had chosen to take. She was young and wasn't able to make the best decisions she could. She was defenseless, weak. Electra wasn't strong enough to make such drastic decisions, and Tom knew that.
It was obvious why Tom had chosen to target her, of all people. Sure, there were wizards and witches everywhere who knew far more complicated things and could do more than her, but she was a computer. A computer in her head that could be easily used for information, weak spots, enemies, more.
It was obvious the path Electra had chosen.
Electra was to become the perfect soldier.
