AUTHOR NOTE (please read): Hey guys, I'm so, so sorry for the year-long delay on this update. To be completely honest, I totally forgot that so many people loved my story, and I'm eternally grateful if you did/do. If you're returning to this story, I'd like to say a massive thank you, it means that absolute world to me. I promise that I'm going to be updating bi-weekly until y'all get sick of me :)

Much love, Gem

Avi:

Hagrid's hut is small and dimly lit when I enter. Night is falling fast, and my body casts ghostly shadows against the walls. Hagrid himself is sitting by the fireplace, stirring something in its depths.

"You requested me, sir?"

"How many times do I got to bloody tell 'ya boy, Hagrid's me name. But yeah, take a seat."

I smile and plop down by the table, craning my neck to get a look at what's in the cauldron. "What's that, si- Hagrid?"

"Oh, nothing Avi, jus' some rock cakes that 'av some softening up ta do. Might be a tad too rocky. Anyway, how's ye dragon goin'?"

She's well. She's still getting used to her wings and staying away from Hogwarts and what-not. I mean, she's taller than us combined now, but I think she's vegetarian, quite unusual for-"

My sentence gets cut off when the door to the hut swings open, banging harshly against the already crumbling walls. Mitch's figure appears in the opening. He looks puffed, obviously having sprinted all the way here from the school. "Avi? What are you doing here? Doesn't matter, okay, Hagrid, we need your help!"

"My help?" Hagrid frowns. "A'right then, lead the way."

I jump up from my perch and follow them both out of the hut. We bustle across the illuminated grounds, lit up by the full moon. Even though Mitch is leading the way, we both have to hurry to catch up to Hagrid's ginormous steps.

"Mitch, what's going on?"

"Madame Pomfrey will explain, but... it's Kevin."

"Kevin? What's wrong with him?"

"No idea." He blows out a massive breath and leads us to the infirmary. "Kirstie's in there with him and the nurses."

I nod. Kirstie wants to become a doctor that specialises in magical properties; it makes sense that she's helping. We race through the corridor, just as a haunting scream pierces the air. Whoever it is is in pain. A lot of pain. Scott's seated outside, and leaps up to meet us face-to-face. He looks like he hasn't slept in days, even though he passed out as soon as he was back in the dorm from meeting Stella last night.

"What's going on?" I ask, waving my hands towards the sound of screams.

Scott and Mitch share a look and the taller boy inhales. "Kevin, he's... changing. Turning into a-"

Kirstie:

I help Madame Pomfrey secure the heavy silver chains over Kevin's wrists. When I found him slumped by the Quidditch pitch an hour ago, they were scratched raw and his uniform was in shreds. I magicked him feather-light and carried him like a baby all the way to the infirmary, where he was, without so much as an explanation, immediately secured to his bed. Jeremy saw me, and ran to find our friends immediately. Kevin opens his mouth, and I'm preparing for another scream, but instead, a low growl followed by a soft whimper leaves his lips. His thrashes over the past half an hour have been getting gradually more aggressive, and I'm increasingly worried that he's going to break the bonds.
