Avi:
The barrier looms ahead, quite solid. I take a deep breath, and Esther tugs at my beanie."You'll be fine." She rolls her eyes. "First years."
"Hey!" I push her lightly and she laughs.
"Alright rascals, through the barrier. Avi, take it at a bit of a run. Gets it over and done with." Days says animatedly.
I nod and watch Esther lean on the divide of Platforms 9 and 10. She disappears right through, pulling her luggage in after her. With mum glancing around to see if there's any Muggles watching, I jog towards the barrier. Solid brick looms up at me, but I've gained too much momentum. I wait for the pain of a crash, but none comes. Instead, a pleasant warmth surrounds my senses. I open my eyes, which I hadn't realized I had closed, and look around. A scarlet steam train huffs white smoke, and Hogwarts students and parents dash to and fro.
"Come on, young one, don't wanna miss it. You can stay in my carriage if you want. One of my friends has saved us one."

Kirstie:
"Mam, are you sure this ticket is correct?" I ask, having to jog to keep up with Jesinta's long-legged pace.
"Yes Miss Maldonado." She says huffily. She's already ten minutes late to a Ministry meeting because she has to escort me here.
Winifred squawks loudly in her cage, and I jump. I have to run a bit faster to fall back into stride. She glances at her watch, and her eyes boggle.
"I am terribly sorry, Miss Maldonado, but if I am any later to my meeting, I'll miss it entirely!"
"But-"
"You see those people by Platform 10? Ask them about Platform 9 and 3/4. They'll know what to do."
"Wait a moment!" But she's disappeared.
I hurry, worriedly, to the people Jesinta pointed out. There is a blonde boy standing next to a woman, who I vaguely recognize.
"Excuse me?" I ask in a small voice.
"Yes, dear?"
I show the woman my ticket, and she smiles at me.
"I have a first year as well." She says kindly.
"I'm Scott." He says, holding out his hand.
"Kirstie."
"Now, I don't want to frighten you dear," starts the woman. "But all you have to do is walk straight through that barrier."
I look at her incredulously. "What?"
"I know right!" Says Scott excitedly. "How cool?"
Scott gets his trolley ready, and I stand with mine next to him. We both face the barrier, and take it at a run. Winifred squawks loudly, and I squeeze my eyes closed. I feel a slight breeze, and I peel open my eyes. We've arrived at a completely new platform, one with a plastic 9 3/4 sign hanging by the rafters. Scott smiles happily at me, and darts further into the station, pushing his luggage with incredible speed. I hesitantly follow at a much slower speed, taking in my surroundings. Parents usher their children onto trains, and students catch up with peers. I awkwardly clammer onto the train, and begin searching for a place to sit.
