CHAPTER THIRTY EIGHT;;
"I was wondering if you wanted to go to the movies with me tonight,"
A smile crept on my lips when I recognised the voice. I placed my textbooks neatly in my locker before slamming locker shut to see him leaning his shoulder against the locker next to mine with his signature smirk plastered on his face.
"I'm sorry, but I have to turn the offer down, Zayn," I pouted. "I already have plans tonight,"
"Come on, Angel," Zayn pulls on my beanie slightly. "You know you can't resist me,"
"What are you trying to say? That I have no self control?" I punched his arm playfully. "You're so full of yourself, you know that?"
His smile widens and he held out his hand and I take it willingly, feeling the electricity of our connection course through me. We intertwine our fingers and began walking down the crowded hallway to the cafeteria for lunch.
"Are you going to tell me what plans you have for tonight?" He asks. "And with who?"
I laugh, "I know you're jealous because someone else is getting my attention,"
"And you say I'm so full of myself,"
"I'm going to have dinner at Rose's family restaurant at the south side with her and Harry. They said we haven't done anything together in so long because you're basically stealing me away from them,"
"Tell them I send my apologies," He says, bringing our hands up and kissing the top of mine as he looked into my eyes. "I have a problem with sharing what's mine,"
"And you say that I can't resist you,"
We walked into the cafeteria to see it flooded with hungry students everywhere. I tip toed and tilt my head to see over the people to find Harry but I couldn't spot him anywhere. As I continued searching, I hear a phone ringing and I turn to look at Zayn reaching in his pocket.
He answered the call and I watched as he place the phone to his ear. "What's up?" He says, then his eyes flicked up to me and his eyebrows furrowed. "I'll be there in ten,"
"What's wrong?" I asked, curiosity getting the best of me. "Who was that?"
"I have some business to take care of,"
Zayn gave me a look that clearly says that it had something to do with his kind. He always had moments like this; leaving in a hurry to settle fallen angels that were causing a scene in front of mortals in his turf and that would have the potential of exposing their kind to the world. Or it could be another nephilim soldier attacking his turf.
It turns out that he also knows about the nephilim army. He told me that Ethan, David (the guy that he works with at the mexican restaurant) and Gemma were a part of the association but he made swear an oath not to say a word about it to anyone especially them.
Ethan and his mum moved out of town unexpectedly a month ago and no one knew the reason, not even my aunt. As for David, I barely know him, but when I do go to his workplace to meet up with Zayn, he sometimes casually starts a conversation with me and I answer them with no fear or hesitation. It was easy for me.
But as for Harry, it was hard because the branding that he has on his chest is a mark of being a part of the nephilim army but he does not know that and even his sister didn't tell him about what is going on. I asked her when she was going to tell him, but she replies me by saying that only time will tell.
