Chapter Four

The next few weeks, Sky and Squid became better and closer friends than anyone. But- it still causes trouble for Squid.

Everyone started calling him- "Angel Child" because of one reason- he was "calming" the devil. Squid hated as much as Sky was offended to it- but they still didn't split apart.

Tempest often tried to pull Squid away, always asking Squid to go swimming or fishing with Sky. But; Squid didn't agree- unless Sky could go with them.

Tempest often disagreed after that.

Sky's POV

Today was a big day though- a new mayor was chosen yesterday and a parade was going to start for the mayor. I didn't care who it was- just if they'll lead right or not.

I just hope really they don't hate my guts.

Squid invited me to go to the parade with him, and after countless hours of his begging- I agreed. My father was coming as well; so that works.

"Hey kiddo! Ready for the parade?" My dad yelled from another room. I smiled a little bit, then called back, " Yeah Dad! Coming!"

Getting off my bed, I walked towards the front door to where my Dad was standing with a grin on his face. "I can't wait to see the parade. How about you Skylar?" He asked, opening to door for me.

"Eh- I could pass. Squid invited me so that's really why I am coming." I explained, waving my hands in the air as I talked.

My Dad rolled his eyes, then followed me out. "Yeah yeah whatever. Your excited."

I didn't bother to comment.

We got their right in time- the parade was starting with people walking down a clearing, throwing petals in the air instead of confetti or something. Cheap. I thought, crossing my arms. But pretty- I mean- look at all the pretty colors!

There wasn't a huge crowd. More like 20 or 30 people- but I couldn't spot Squid at all. "Dad, can you see Squid anywhere?" I asked, pulling on his shirt a bit.

He shook his head after taking a scan of the area. "No son I can't- but I do need to tell you something." Looking away from the parade, he lowered himself to my height so he could see my eyes.

He smiled gently, then said; "Son when, you grow up, will you be the savior? Of the broken and the damned? Can you defeat them- the demons, and all the murderous villains- in this horrid world? Because one day- I'll leave you, and you'll need to know how to live. To make a difference." He smiled gently, before ruffling my brown locks of hair.

Pushing himself up, he then said; "I'll go watch the parade on my own. You go find Squid." I stood there for a moment- confused and a little afraid. Then I nodded faintly.

"Okay. Sure Dad- I'll see you later."

"Wait Skylar- I love you." Dad called out when I was walking away. I stopped for a moment, and looked to my shoes. "I love you too Dad."

Then I took off running to find my best friend.
