Don't beat around the bush. Being straightforward is actually a lot easier than dropping hints and hoping they pick up on it.
If you like her, tell her, kiss her, something to let her know. If you like him, tell him, steal his sweatshirt, do something to get it through to him that you want something more.
If you are in middle school, having a crush is a big deal and you don't want anyone to know because if they don't like you back your life is ruined. If you're in highschool, you've already learned that having a crush is the most wonderfully torturous feeling, and if you like someone you want them to know. And, if they don't like you back, boo-hoo move on.
Over the years you'll begin to realize that it isn't as big a deal as you like to make it seem. It's quite simple, really.
You like him. You tell him. One of two things happen - he likes you and you make your move, or he doesn't and you carry on. Same if you like her, I don't judge.
Basically, don't think it's the worst thing in the world to have feelings for someone, everyone does it. The best thing to do it get to the point, and don't sweat it.
