Stay With Me (by V.A.R)

CHAPTER FOUR

​ While Adam was walking back to his house, he thinks about what Kara told him. About her past and now everything made sense to him.
He couldn't stop thinking of her. He feels sad for her, he likes this girl and he knows that it will not be easy to be with her, but Adam isn't the guy that gives up so easy, he would do anything to get her.
​A call came, and it is from his dad and he doesn't answer it. That his father called him made Adam want to break something. He hates him so much. He hates what he said to him, the way he acted, he hates his father. 
​ When he arrives at his house, he looks for the one thing he knows will help him forget about his father for a while.
Adam goes to the kitchen and looks in the pantry behind the pasta and finds the bottle of vodka and drinks it until there is not even a drop and then he grabs the bottle of whisky and drinks it too.
Adam has been drinking to shut his thoughts since last year when everything got complicated. He tried to stop, but it didn't work. This was his only way to shut off his mind and don't think at all.
​ Adam looks at the hour and gets ready for the party. He goes up the stairs, but he's dizzy and falls, he tries to get up, but he falls again and then he felt sleep.

​ Adam wakes up with a huge pain on his head and he sees his watch and realizes it's almost eleven, so he takes a quick bath and gets ready to go to Jorge's party.
​ On his way out he checks his phone and has a bunch of messages from Jorge asking him where he was and saying that Kara was looking for him and then he check and has another message from Kara asking him if he was coming. He is surprised to see that Kara is asking for him and happy too, so he texts her back "yeah, I'm on my way. I felt asleep."
​ He decides that is best for him to walk to Jorge's house. It is fifteen minutes on foot and since he is still drunk, that is the smart thing to do.
​ All the way to Jorge's house he thinks about Kara and he wonders if she likes him, maybe she does or maybe she is just concern as a friend.
He is wishing that is the first one because he is crazy about her and he knows that he has seen her two times, but there is something about Kara that makes Adam crazy, Maybe it's her amazing body or maybe it is her beautiful hair or her eyes or her smile, he doesn't know what is about her that makes him go like crazy every time he sees her. She has something special, and all Adam wants right now is to be next to her listening to her and watch her laugh and that will improve his day.

​ Adrianna is talking with Kara about her adventures while she was gone. But Kara cannot concentrate in what she is saying, she only thinks of Adam.
She knows he felt asleep and that he was on his way here but she wants to see him. She doesn't know why, but before she got his text she was going like crazy thinking where he was, she was worried about him. She was relief when she got his text, but she is eager to see him.
​"Are you listening?" Adrianna asks and Kara turns her head and sees Adrianna waiting for an answer.
​ "Um, huh, yes." she lies and Adrianna knows she's lying.
Adrianna frowns and asks Kara "You seem distracted, is something wrong?"
​"Um, no. I mean... I'm just waiting for Adam." she says looking at the door to see if Adam arrive but he hasn't so she turns her head to Adrianna who's still frowning and she asks Kara confuse "Who's Adam?"
​"He was at the lake... the new one." she explains to Adrianna, and she raises her eyes and asks with a look that said "that boy is so hot" "You mean the gorgeous one with the amazing green eyes and the spectacular body?"
​ Kara laughs a little and nods "Yeah, that one."
​"Doyoulikehim?" she asks anxious and Kara shakes her head and frowns and then she says "Oh... What... No."
Adrianna raised her eyes, and says "Ohm, right." not believing Kara.
"I don't like him. We are just friends." she assures Adrianna but she sighs and says sarcastically "Sure."
"Adrianna I'm serious, I don't like him. I'm still getting over Austin." Kara says to Adrianna remembering that Austin died a few months ago.
"Well, you know that to get over a boy, you have to get another boy." Kara shakes her head, because that's what Adrianna always say.
"This is different." she explains to Adrianna but again Adrianna doesn't believe Kara so she says "No it isn't. Stop making excuses."
"I don't even know if he likes me." she murmurs.
"Let me figure that out." Adrianna says with a grin.
Kara just nods and then she sees Adam entering through the door and she got goose bumps and then their gazes met so she waves at him and he waves back and comes toward her.
The closer he got, the more nervous Kara gets and when he gets where she is, they both smile at each other for a while saying nothing.
"Um, well... I'm going to... to be over there." Adrianna says standing up and Kara nods without looking at her.
"Hi sleeping beauty." she says without stopping smiling.
Adam laughs and says "Hey, gorgeous."  while sitting beside her. Adam gets distracted by looking at her eyes and her smile, he cannot think about anything. He thinks of how beautiful she is.
"How is your head?" he manages to ask.
Kara frowns not knowing what is he talking about but then she remembers about the bike incident this morning so she says "Fine, I told you it wasn't anything."
"When you see someone bleeding you get worried." he explains, and she rolls her eyes dramatically and that made him laugh.
'God he is so handsome' Kara thinks.
"Do you want something to drink?" he asks her and she nods.
He gets up and goes to the bar and in seconds Adrianna came back with a smile on her face.
"What?" Kara asks her.
"He likes you." Adrianna says with a smile from ear-to-ear.
Kara frowns and she shakes her head not believing what Adrianna said "No... what... no... why do you think that?"
"'Cause it's obvious. He couldn't get his eyes off you and had a goofy smile all the time. Kara trust me, he likes you."
"Shut up and go." she says impatient and Adrianna asks confuse "Why?"
"He's coming, go go go." she explains.
"And you like him." she says with a smile from ear-to-ear and goes away.
"I'm back." he says handing Kara her drink.
She takes a sip and realizes is beer and she puts it aside and by her expression Adam knew she didn't drink or at least didn't like beer.
"Not a fan?" he says looking at her drink.
"Nah." she admits.
"I can get you something else." he says standing up, but she shakes her head and says "It's fine."
"You don't like beer or-?" she cuts him off and explains to him "I don't drink at all."
​ "Oh." he is surprise and now even more nervous, so he takes a big sip and realizes he finished his beer. He feels tempted to grab Kara's drink, but he knows that it'll look bad.
He is a bit drunk, but being with her makes him nervous and when he is nervous he drinks.
​ "Are you okay? You're like sweating a lot." Kara asks him and he nods and says "Yeah, I'm fine." his words sounded more insecure that he meant them to sound.
​ Kara opens her mouth to ask something else, but someone touches her back and she turns around and sees Lucas with Olivia "Hey guys."
​While they were talking Adam changes his cup with Kara's and then he nods at what they were saying.
​ "I would love to." Kara says smiling
​"Great, I'll see you then." Olivia says with a smile.
​"Okay, bye." Kara says, and she turns back to Adam "Sorry, it's just Lucas is trying to make plans with me and her girlfriend."
​"Not a problem."
​She hears her phone and looks for her purse and sees that her cup is empty, but she doesn't pay much attention to that. She grabs her phone and sees Jenna is calling so she answers it.
​ "Hey Jenna, what's up?"
​ "I'm just calling to let you know that mom and dad are on their way, so you must stay there for an hour or two hours."
​ "Yeah, sure. Thanks for the warning."
​"Not a problem." Jenna says and then she hangs-up.
​"God, sorry again." she apologize to Adam again
"You don't have to say 'sorry' every time." he says imitating her from earlier this morning.
​ She gives him a brief smile and thinks how is it possible that her cup is empty and then she sees that Adam still is drinking and sweating. She gets suspicious that he is drunk and she has experience with Jenna to know that.
"Do you want to walk?" she asks him.
​ "Sure." he gets up and he is feeling a little dizzy again and Kara notices he trembles while he gets up and that is a sign indicating he is drunk.
​They were walking and Adam says "I'm just going to get something to drink first." she notices he smells like liquor so she says "I don't think you want to keep drinking."
​ He frowns and asks "Why?"
​"C'mon outside for a second." he nods and they go outside and they sit on a small wall.
​They stay in silence for a while.
Kara is looking for the right way to ask him if he is drunk and she opens her mouth to talk but instead Adam kisses her and she immediately puts her hands on his chest and pushes him away "What are you doing?" she asks confuse.
​"Wasn't that why you took me here?"
​"No." she says angry and gets off the wall "Are you crazy? You're drunk Adam."
​ "I'm not." he says defensive getting down too.
​"Well, your breath says otherwise." she points out and since he knows that there is no way he's wining this argument he changes the subject and asks "So you weren't planning on kissing me?"
​"Are you out of your mind? No! Not! I lost my boyfriend, remember?"
​ "Well, I thought you were over him."
​"Ugh, you don't know me at all." she says walking away and Adam walks inside the house to look for another drink.
​Kara gets on her car.
She is so angry at him.
'First Jenna and now him? What is it about alcohol that people find so amazing? I don't get it. Don't they know all the things that alcohol can cause you? And it tastes like hell!!
       How could he think I would kiss him? I told him about Austin and he still believed that I'm interested in him. God men are stupid... Yeah, he is handsome but I'm not falling for him and even if I was I wouldn't have kissed him so fast. I'm not that easy' She wants to get to her house, but she knows she has to wait an hour or so to go to her house.
Kara doesn't wants to see him again. She is too angry to see anyone. She wants to get to her room and she doesn't care that her parents aren't home yet. She just wants to be in her house.

​ Kara opens the door of her house and she founds her parents, Jenna and Mike sitting in the table talking. "Kara honey, how are you?" her mother asks.
​"Tired." she says, and she gets up the stairs.
The four of them are surprise by her answer and Mike stands-up and says "I'll talk to her." he goes to Kara's room and knocks before entering.
​"I want to sleep." she says and Mike sees her wrap-up on her bed.
​"But I want to talk."
​"Okay." she says rolling her eyes and he sits in her bed next to her.
​ "What happened?" he asks in a tender tone.
​ "Nothing." she lies not wanting to share what happened with her brother.
​ "Kara, tell me." he insists, and she sits-up and changes the subject "Don't you think she is a hypocrite by asking me how I'm doing, when she isn't even around here?"
​ "Well yes, but she's still our mother. You know you cannot talk to her like that."
​ "Now you are on her side?" Kara asks frustrated and angry.
​ He shakes his head and says "I'm not taking anyone's side."
​ She rolls her eyes "Whatever. Can you go now?" she asks him icily.
He nods and gets out her room.
​She feels bad for talking to her brother like that. He was trying to help. But she is mad with Adam and now she is mad with her mother for being such a hypocrite.
​ Her phone rings with a call from Adam and she ignores it. He has call many times and sends a lot of texts but she will not read them or answer to him. She doesn't wants to talk to him, she wants to sleep and forget about tonight but she can only think about him.
'He was such a gentleman on the morning, he was charming and I liked that Adam, not the drunk Adam that was at the party. I'm sick and tired of drama. I wanted to be friends with him because he seemed simple and uncomplicated, but from what I saw tonight he seems pretty much like an alcoholic'
