Nick's POV

I woke up & walked downstairs. Just my luck. Joe was here. God maybe I should've kicked him out permanently. He's not the first thing I wanna see when I wake up in the morning. Not to mention I had morning wood.

"Wow Nick. Do I make you that excited?" Joe joked.

"Haha, shut the fuck up Joe." I said with a straight face.

"Woah. Someone's grouchy this morning. So how'd your date go last night?" He asked.

My eyes widened. Shit. Does he know? "Date? What are you talking about?"

"Oh I'm sorry. Your business meeting." He said putting air quotes around business meeting.

"Oh it went well. Thanks for the fashion advice. But why the air quotes around business meeting?"

"Well I just find it weird that you went on a business meeting with Fabio from Providence."

"Uh...that was not Fabio."

"Nick...I go to that restaurant like every other week. I know Fabio when I see him & that was definitely him."

"That wasn't Fabio Joe! Why would I have a business meeting with Fabio?"

"That's what I'm tryna figure out."

"How do you know what the guy looks like anyway? Were you spying on me?"

"Me? Hell no. I have much better things to do than to worry about what you're up to all day. But you know who doesn't? Paparazzi. And the pictures are all over the Internet. They were making gay allegations...ya know same old same old."

"Well whatever. It was NOT Fabio! I will admit that guy looks a lot like Fabio but it's not him ok?"

"Ok so what was the business meeting about?"

"Business obviously..."

"What kind of business?"

"Joe what's with all the questions?"

"I just wanna know what you were up to last night."

"You just said you have better things to do than to-

"Never mind that! Things are starting to look very suspicious so I'd like to know what's going on. You're not gay are you? Cuz if you are, I'm completely fine with that. You know I wouldn't judge but-

"I'm not gay Joe! It was just a business meeting! Give it a rest man!" I yelled getting irritated.

"Just a business meeting my ass. You're my brother. You're supposed to tell me everything. Whatever you're hiding must be pretty damn important if you can't even tell me." He said walking away.

"Joe where are you going?" I asked.

"What the fuck do you care?" He asked.

"What the hell Joe? What has gotten into you?"

"What's gotten into me? Maybe you should ask yourself that question. You never keep secrets. Suddenly you're being all secretive & you can't even talk to your own brother!"

"If you knew, you'd understand why I'm being so secretive."

"So just tell me! It can't be that bad!"

"I can't tell you Joe. I'm sorry. I want to but I can't! I wanna tell the whole world but I can't! That's just the way it is...I hate it but it is what it is."

"Well then I gotta go." He said leaving the house & slamming the door.

Great...just when we were getting along again. Man...I really wanna tell him. But I can't. Melanie & I made a promise not to say anything to anyone about our relationship. I gotta stick to that promise. It's for the best. This is how it has to be.

Melanie's POV

I was up in the dorm watching tv. Brianna had some errands to run but she said she'd be back. After a few episodes of Big Bang Theory, she was back. I was already dressed so I figured maybe she wanted to hang out but she just laid down on her bed. I guess she wasn't in the mood to go out.

"So how did your date with number 18 go?" I asked.

She sat up. "It went great & I learned his name is Josh."

"Well I'm glad you had a good time. You can thank me." I said.

"About that, why did you wanna get me out the dorm so bad?"

"What? I wasn't trying to get you out of the dorm. I was just doing something nice for you. You said you liked him so I thought why not set you two up on a date or something."

"Yeah but that's the thing. You've never done anything like that for me before. You usually let me handle these things like this on my own. You know I'm independent & I never have trouble with guys."

"I know but I thought I'd just make it easier for you by letting him know you were interested."

"Hm...ok then. So what did you do while I was gone?"

"Nothing." I said.

"Nothing? That whole time I was out you didn't do anything? You didn't go out?" She asked.

"That's what I said. Why are you interrogating me right now?"

"Because I feel like you're hiding shit from me again."

"Well I'm not."

"I know you went out last night!"

"How the hell do you know that?"

"I didn't but thanks for just admitting it."

"Ugh...I didn't go out ok!?"

"And now you're lying to me about it! I already know! You know you're a terrible liar! Just be honest! Who did you go out with last night? Why are you being so secretive? Just tell me!"

"Brianna believe me, I wanna tell you. I just can't."

"Why the hell not!?"

"Because I just can't tell you. There's a lot going on right now & I just can't tell you everything. I need you to accept that & just move on."

"Well I can't accept that. We're supposed to be best friends for life. We're practically sisters yet you insist on keeping secrets!!! I can't take this anymore! I'm leaving."

"What? Brianna where are you gonna go? You have nowhere else to stay!"

"Don't worry about that! I'm leaving! I'll be back in the morning to get my stuff." She said leaving & slamming the door.

This relationship is starting to become a hassle. I'm not even having fun anymore. I was but now I'm tired of it. I'm tired of having to hide my relationship from the people I care about most. It's ruining my life. I don't know how much more I can take.
