Part 4: Is it a plane?

Well, I'm glad that stupid day is over. Now I have to go pick Vanessa up from the sitter, and she lives across town... Oh right, I have to get more carrots, we're out. Maybe I'll go there first and get mum to pick Vanessa up. I hop on the bus and dial mum's number. I never use my contacts anymore, I might see his name there... No. I promised myself I wouldn't think about him. I punch in the number and mum picks up after the second ring.
"Hello?"
Hey mum it's me, could you pick up Nessa from the sitter? I have to go to get some carrots."
"Of course, Rose, but why carrots?"
"Well, Nessa likes eating carrot soup and we're out."
"Of course sweetheart, I'll meet you at your apartment with her."
"Thanks mum"
"No problem sweetheart. Have fun."
"Right, bye mum."
I flip my phone shut and sigh. Suddenly I get a burst of anger. The doctor said he would find a way. I suppose that was a lie. He left me to raise our daughter by myself! Plus, she's not even a fully human child, I need his help! I open my phone and scroll down to the Doctor's contact and my finger hovers over the delete button. Then I remember what he did to us and slam my finger down to delete his contact. Done. I can't believe it took me this lo-

What is that?? It's those pink lights again, but this time they are brighter and stronger. They flicker and dance as if they haven't a care in the world. Hmph. I wish I was that lucky.

I get off at my stop and cross quickly to the store and walk into the cool, white tiled oasis. I make a beeline for the fresh produce, trying to not get sucked into buying something I don't need and can't afford. I grab a bag of carrots and keep my head down as I pay. The cheerful lady at the till notices my sad expression and asks me what's wrong.
"Oh, nothing." I reply, barely convincing myself.
She smiles sympathetically. "Well have a good rest of your day. Good things are around the corner for you, sweetheart."
"I hope so. Have a good afternoon..."
"Donna." She tells me. "Donna Noble."
"Have a great day, Donna Noble." I say as I walk out the door to catch another bus.
