Part 11: Jackie

"Rooose?" I hear the Doctor's curious voice calling to me as I wake up. I groan and roll over, the Doctor's smiling face greeting me from the doorway.
"I made you some breakfast and I think it's edible this time." he says, handing me a tray with an egg, sunny side up and a glass of orange juice.
"Oh Doctor!" I exclaim, surprised. "You didn't have to do all this!"
"Anything for you, Rose," the Doctor says, beaming with pride. I look down at the egg, cautiously cut a piece, and put it in my mouth.
"Doctor! This is so good!" I say truthfully. "You are an excellent cook."
"Why thank you, hey, you can't read my mind still, can you?" he asks.
I pause and think for a second. "Nope, nothing. It's gone. Thank you for breakfast." I wrap my hand behind his neck and kiss him and he leans diwn to meet me halfway. We slowly separate and the Doctor's smile widens.
"You're welcome," he says as he pulls the tray off my lap and sets it down on the nightstand. He leans down and presses his lips against mine, slowly sinking into the bed. I snake my hands around him and he does the same, pulling me up towards him.
I suddenly remember something very important, and I push him away, gasping.
"My mother is going to kill you."
"Well I'm so glad me kissing you reminds you of your mother, Rose," the Doctor jokes.
"No, it's not you. I just remembered I went away without telling her. That's all," I say.
"But didn't we leave our daughter with her?" alarm rising in his voice, the Doctor asks.
"I just asked her to watch her for awhile. Sorry," I reply.
"Oh," the Doctor calms down, "so she doesn't know I'm back and we're dating again."
"Right," I say, "maybe she won't be upset?"

The Doctor and I wait anxiously outside the door to Jackie's apartment. "Are you sure I have to be here, Rose? Couldn't you just tell her yourself?"
"No. You are coming in and dealing with my mother like a man," I say firmly. I reach over and knock twice. I hear mum's footsteps from the kitchen to the door and it swings open.
"ROSE TYLER I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU!" Jackie yells sternly. Then she spots the Doctor.
"You," she says, eyes narrowing, before she explodes into a ball of fury, marches right up to him and yells "HOW DARE YOU! HOW DARE YOU KNOCK MY DAUGHTER UP THEN LEAVE HER TO RAISE THIS ALIEN CHILD ALONE! HOW BLOODY DARE YOU!"
"Mum!" I scream, "It's alright! He came back and he's going to help us take care of Vanessa. I'm sorry I didn't tell you where I was going but he's back. I love him." I end shakily. The Doctor wraps a protective hand around my waist and says "That's right. I'm here to help and I love your daughter with all my two hearts and will do anything and everything to make her happy, even if it tears me apart." I look up at him and see that he is tearing up a bit, he pulls me closer and kisses my forehead.
Mum, astonished by all this, reaches up and hugs the Doctor. "I'm glad you're back. This doesn't mean I like you, but I'm glad you're back."
"Good enough for me," the Doctor says.
"Mum? Dad? Gramma? What happened?" a small voice from the doorway says.
I rush over and hug my daughter. "Nothing sweetie. Everything's fine."
At least it is now.
