Washing dishes. How fun. And alone, too. The Doctor took Vanessa out for some bonding time, leaving me alone in the apartment. Washing dishes. The soapy water swirls as I scrub Vanessa's cereal bowl. I lift it up and rinse it off, then dry it and put it in the cupboard. It's been two months since the Doctor moved in, and so far, it's just been domestic boring life. I suppose I should get used to this. After all, this is the rest of my life, raising Vanessa with or without the Doctor.

I hear a key turning in the lock on the door, and before I can turn around, the Doctor bursts in, the door hitting the wall, shouting "Rose Tyler!" He quickly steps over to me, with some papers in hand.

"Rose Tyler! You'll never guess! You and I are going to Venice! I booked the hotel and everything!" he yells excitedly. He wraps his arms around me and kisses me, making me drop the spoons I was drying on the floor.

"Rose Tyler, we are taking a trip to Venice together and you are going to love it." he says, calmer now.

"Doctor! That's incredible! When are we going?" I ask.

"Today! Pack up, Rose, we're leaving soon!"

"Great, but where's my daughter? She was supposed to be with you." I ask anxiously.

"I dropped her off with your mum, she's fine with it. Go pack, Rose, I'll finish the dishes!" she twirls me away from him, and I rush off to our room.

Hmm, let's see, uhh, underwear, socks, shirts, sweaters, dresses, shoes, pants... I throw things at random into my suitcase hurriedly, hoping I don't forget anything. Venice! Funny for mum to approve this, she hates it when I go off travelling with the Doctor.

In Venice-at the hotel
"Okay, Rose! We're in Venice! What do you want to do first?" he asks me from the king sized bed.

"I thought you would have this trip scheduled down to the minute, Mr Time Lord," I laugh.

"Well, tonight we're going on a gondola ride, then we have dinner reservations, but until then, we're free! Do you want to explore or something?" he asks, his hair sticking up in all directions.

"Okay, but first, let me relax a little and unpack." I lay down on the bed beside him and intertwine my fingers  with his. "Thank you for this trip, Doctor."

"No problem Rose! Thank you for coming and being the best girlfriend anyone could ask for," he says. "I love you, Rose Tyler."

"I love you too, Doctor." I twist over to kiss him, and he meets me halfway. His lips are warm and soft against mine, gentle, as if afraid I could break. I wrap my arms around the back of his neck and he grabs my waist and pulls me closer. A single thought races through my head, ruining the mood.  "Mmm, Doctor?" I whisper. "Yeah, Rose? What's wrong?" We break apart and he looks concernedly into my eyes. "I was just wondering, um," I trace circles with my finger on the sleeve of his jacket nervously, "are- are you- we- um," I stutter.

"Rose, what's wrong? You can tell me," he says, sitting up.

"Well, it's just, you know, are you going to-" I stutter.

"To what? What am I going to do?" he presses.

"Get sick of me and leave? How long are you going to stay with me?" I ask.

"Is that what you're worried about? Rose, remember when I asked you that question? Do you remember what your answer was?" the Doctor smiles.

"Forever?"

"Exactly. You don't have to worry about me leaving you, Rose, I love you and will never stop loving you. Don't be silly."

I smile and wrap my arms around his neck in a hug. "Thanks Doctor."
