He was making it harder and harder to believe that this is real life.
His phone rang as soon as we walked into the house.
“’Scuse me,” he kissed my forehead and dashed upstairs where his phone was.
Still shirtless and a little tired from the game, I plopped myself down on the couch and hugged my knees to my chest. Then I remembered something. I glanced back at the kitchen counter, and laughed slightly. The tub of ice cream was still there.
“That’s great!” I heard Blake say as he returned down the stairs. He held onto the railing at the last step and stood there. “And when will that be?”
I watched him carefully from the couch as his happy expression turned to a look of confusion and his eyebrows wrinkled. “Tonight?” He asked. He was very disappointed. Blake stole a glance at me, and I just watched intently, hoping that everything was okay.
What was happening?
He groaned. “Alright, alright. Yeah, I’m truly honored, though. I can’t wait. I’ll talk to you later.” He hung up the phone. He looked at me.
“I’m guessing no date tonight?” I asked, already knowing the answer.
“I’m sorry, Jordan,” He said, making his way over to me. He sat down and it caused me to sink into his arms, which wasn’t a problem at all. “That was my manager. I have a meeting tonight to discuss my award nomination.”
“That’s awesome!” I said, sitting up to face him directly.
“I know,” he said with a smile. “But I’d rather spend tonight with you.”
If he could see it, he’d know that I was blushing. A sudden rush of heat ran to my cheeks and I smirked. “Oh, shut it, this is big,” I said and poked his side, playfully. “Plus we have tomorrow night.”
“That’s true,” he said, and leaned in to kiss me softly on the lips. I kissed him back.
“The only bad thing about this is that I have to find my own plans for tonight.”
“Oh yeah, that’s right,” he said, suddenly alarmed. “I don’t want to leave you here alone.”
“I’m sure I can fine something to do.”
“You okay being downtown… by yourself?”
“Who says’ I’m going downtown?” I smiled.
“Well, I dunno what girls do.” He laughed. I laughed with him.
“Maybe I’ll go downtown,” I said. “I’d have to like, Mapquest it or something, I have no idea where to go.”
“I’m sure you’ll get around, no problem.” he smiled.
After getting him to play another game, just for fun, it was time for him to get ready to leave. I felt so tempted to join him up in his room, but I stayed outside the door. Blake stopped halfway in when he realized I wasn’t by his side, and turned around.
“You not coming in?” He said.
“You’re about to take a shower,” I said, looking him dead in the eye. I continued after he didn’t do anything. “Ha, no, you have to get ready.”
“I have some time,” Blake’s smile widened with each step he took towards me.
“I’m not making you late to a meeting, that’s so unprofessional.” I said as his arms wrapped around my waist.
