Chapter 5:

The next morning I woke up to good smells. Colin was cooking pancakes, bacon and eggs in the kitchen. I was still lying in the recliner with a blanket on me, I wonder where Colin slept all night. I was exhausted, the last thing I remember was holding Colin's hand and watching If I Stay.

"Well good morning Jen."

"Hey Colin, I'm really hoping this breakfast is for both of us and not just you. It looks delicious, and I'm starving." Colin chuckled.

"Well, the original plan was to eat it all myself, but Jen if you wanted me to share..."

"Oh shut up" I giggled. I playfully punched him in the arm.

We sat down and ate breakfast after a few minutes.

NARRATOR POV

For the following week, Jen focused on moving most of her belongings to LA, and left some necessities at her Vancouver apartment. Colin and Jennifer were leaving for Ireland the next day:

JENS POV:

Right now I'm at my apartment, packing for Ireland. Colin and I are leaving tomorrow morning at 8 for the airport. I am still second-guessing my decision to go, but Helen and I had grown fairly friendly. I found it a little unusual she asked for me to come, because I thought she would want Colin for herself...but I was going to go along with it. I'd do anything to make Colin's and Colin's family's life easier.

"Jen, oh Jen. Wake up Jennifer. Wake up sleepyhead."

He must've been knocking for a really long time, because Colin doesn't normally just come into my apartment. I was exhausted.

"Colin! You scared me. What time is it?!"

He was 2 inches from my face. You can only visualize the look on my face as I peel my eyes open and see Colin O' Donoghue telling me to wake up.

"It is 7:30am. Are you done packing?"

"Yes. I set my alarm for 6 but it never went off."

"Okay let's get a move on, princess."

Apparently princess is my new nickname. I liked it.

A few hours later, we arrived in Drogheda, Ireland where Colin lives. The flight over was great. We talked the whole time, never getting bored or running out of conversation topics. That's what best friends are like, right? The plan was for me to go home next week.

A cab picked us up and took us to Colin's house.

When we arrived, I was taken back. His house was as big as a mansion. There was no cars in the driveway, so I figured nobody was home.

Weird,

"Okay love, I'll get your bags. Let's go in."

We walked in his huge, lonely house. I didn't hear any kids running around or babies crying. Helen must not be home. However, Colin didn't look very surprised.

"Uh, where is Helen and the kids?"

"They might be running errands or something, but I'm sure they'll be back soon." He looked suspicious, but I didn't think much of it.

"Well, until they get back, do you want to watch some movies?"

"Sure, let me go put my stuff in the guest room."

A few minutes later, we were on the couch together watching Twilight.

It felt wrong. We had had many movie nights before but...in his own house? Waiting for his wife and kids to get home? Maybe I was overthinking it, but I couldn't get rid of the feeling in my stomach.

It was about 9pm, 3 hours after we arrived.

Helen still wasn't home.

I began to get worried. Is she okay? Did one of the kids get hurt?

"Colin, don't you think you should give Helen a call?"

"Uhh...yeah sure. I'll just go in the other room and ring her."

A minute later he came back and said she didn't answer. He didn't even look concerned, which really confused me.

"Aren't you worried, Colin? Do you want to go around town and see if her car is driving around?"

"No, Jen. Don't worry. Maybe she is at her mom's for the night."

Helen hasn't seen Colin in months, and right when he comes home, she leaves to see her mom? Something wasn't adding up.
