A/N: This one shot is kind of dark. All kittens, clear out!

Merida's Pov

I woke up to a trashed, low lit room. Again. All the nights before came flooding back to me. Again. I had been so sure that someone would hear me scream and come. But no one did.

I inhaled the smoky air then threw up all over the floor. It smelled like pot and liquor. I yanked against the chains that held me to the wall, trying to make them budge just a little bit. I needed to get out, before he came back.

Catching a glance at myself in the shattered mirror, I stopped thrashing around to stare at the multiple reflections. My red hair was matted and greasy, I had enormous dark shadows underneath my dull eyes. My skin hadn't seen the sun in ages and I looked more like a carcass than a real girl.

But this time, I saw something I didn't usually see. His phone. It was next to my hands, so close I could almost touch it. He must've gotten careless and left it there last night. I stretched every muscle in my arm and hand, reaching for it. Got it! I laughed weakly, then grimaced from the pain of my bruised ribs.

Turning so that I could look at it, I flipped it open and punched in 911. I held it to my ear carefully and listened to it ring. Once. Twice.

"911, what's your emergency?" A woman's voice said. I swallowed and spoke in a hoarse whisper, "Hello, my name is Merida Dunbroch and I'm being held captive in Rustshire Apartments, number 16. Please, come quick before he wakes up." A tear ran down my face, drawing a clean streak on my cheek.

"Ma'am, I need you to stay on the line with me, ok?" The voice sounded more urgent now. It was just so familiar.
"Punzie?"
"Oh my god, Mer! Oh my god! Don't hang up, whatever you do, don't hang up!" There was some commotion on the other end of the line. Suddenly, I heard his door open. My heart raced with fear.
"Punz, he's coming. He's coming!" I sputter, clawing my cuffs.
"It's ok, Mer, just keep talking to me. Talk to me, tal-"

"What the heck are you doing with my phone, slut?!" Macintosh yelled, storming over to me and kicking the phone across the room. He slapped me hard, leaving a red welt. I glared up at him defiantly.
"The police are coming. You're gonna get arrested, you pig." I hissed and he kicked me in the stomach so hard that I puked again.

He untied my chains and grabbed my hair in his hand, dragging me across the floor. "Punzie! PUNZIE!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. But I was already out the door.

Hiccup's Pov

I glanced over at Jack, who nodded silently. One, two, three. I mouthed, then kicked down the door. We practically ran into the room.
"Police officers!" I yelled, pointing my gun at all the entrances and corners. Jack lowered his gun slightly and went down a hallway while I dashed down another. All I came across was a bathroom that reeked of vomit.

"Hiccup!" Jack called, and I ran to the other side of the apartment, hand still on the trigger. I went in just to see him dash down the fire escape through an open window. The suspect must've run for it.
"Hiccup?" A frail voice croaked. I spun around to see Merida chained to the wall, crying. Her hair was washed out and her eyes were lifeless, but it was Merida. That wasn't what made me speechless, though.

It was the black eye, the cuts that were crudely patched together, and the bruises all over her arms, legs and neck. And her lip was bleeding. I just started to sob. How could someone do this to her, my beautiful, fiery archer?

I stumbled over to her, fell onto my knees at her side and stared.
"Mer? W-what did he d-do to you?" She just struggled with the chains. I broke them off with my bare hands and held her close while she sobbed into my shirt, her entire body shivering.
"He took it away. He hurt me so much, Hiccup, and I kept calling for you and you never came and he didn't stop." She wailed, clutching my shoulders and digging her ragged nails into them.

I just held her, slowly rocking back and forth, and ran my hand over her tangled hair. I finally found the breath to say,

"Merida, I promise that I will always, always protect you, from anything or anyone that would ever hurt you. Because you are the most precious thing in my life and my one and only love." She looked up at me with tears running down her cheeks. I carefully wiped them away and smiled.

"I missed you so much, fishbone. Now look at you. You have shoulders and actual muscles and-" She touched my jaw gently and attempted at a smile, "you've grown into a handsome fishbone."
"And you, Red, are quite the sight." Jack was in the doorway, holding a well built guy with long dark hair and a snarky expression. Merida cringed at the very sight of him, which made me want to rip his head off and stuff it down his gullet.

"Found him behind a dumpster. He was gonna jump me, the idiot."
"I'm right here, buddy." Jack twisted his arm behind his back.
"I'm not your buddy, pal. And for what you did to Red, you are going to regret the rest of your pathetic existence. So without further ado, Ian Macintosh, I'm arresting you for kidnapping, rape, assault, and enslavement." The white haired officer recited, tightening a pair of handcuffs around his wrists.

I sent him a withering glare before he got yanked out the door. I helped Merida up and offered my arm. "Milady, I suggest we blow this dump. Your thoughts?" She clutched my arm with a single spark of fire in her eye.

"I would be delighted."
