After picking me up, Christian carried me outside, getting strange looks as we passed.
We were aloud outside till 10:00 pm, and we were aloud to be out of our rooms till 11:00 pm.
Once outdoors, i caught a glimpse of the fimiliar gates surrounding the entire perimeter owned by the school. If you looked close enough (or even touch it, which i wouldn't recomend) you could see the electric currents rippling through the barbed wire.
"Where are you taking me?" I demand. But my threat doesn't go very far, because I begin giggling.
"You'll just have to wait and see," he smirked.
As he walked, we passed the courtyard. unlike a lot of things here, it was beautiful. You could clearly hear the bubbling of the huge fountain in the center. People sat around the brink of it, chatting amongst themselves. Brightly colored flowers outlined the grand square of neatly placed stones around the courtyard. The only thing that ruined it? The guards. Stiff and motionless.
We past the medical building. I have only been inside once, a year ago, when i broke my arm during a training session. And Christian had been right there beside me, as i bit my lip and toughed through it. Not one single tear. I had been so proud of myself.
When we reached the far side of the 'campus', Christian placed me on the ground. The electric fence hummed a deadly lullaby, it's touch promising electricution. And it was right in front of me. I jumped backwards, bumping into Christian in the act. He gripped my waist.
"What's wrong?" He asked, alarmed.
"N-nothing. It was just the fence. I didn't know i was so close to it," i shuddered.
"Oh. It's alright. I would never let it hurt you," He vowed, smiling.
"Why are we here?" I asked, momentarily forgetting about the fence.
"You'll see," he smirked.
He knelt down, intent on the rippling waves of the fence. Only now, though, do irealize the gaping two foot hole in the base of the fence.
"H-how is that there?!" I screeched.
"I don't know. One day, i was walking along the fence, and i just happened to stumble apon it. So, I crawled under it," he shrugged nonchalantly.
"You WHAT?!" I shrieked, my voice rising an octave.
"Shh, your going to get us into trouble. Now come on." He pointed to the fence.
"No. No, no, no,no. No way in HELL am i crawing under that death trap," I refused.
"Come on. I wanna show you something," he pleaded with puppy dog eyes.
I couldn't deny that face. So, I thought about it
"Err... Fine," I grunted.
His entire face lit up.
"But you're going first."
"Alright."
He went into an army craw position, and began wiggling slowly under the fence. And then- he was standing on the other side. Completely unscathed.
"Your turn," he grinned happily, pointing at the fence.
"I'm scaed," I didn't hesitate to let hime know.
"It's ok, just do what i did, and you'll be perfectly fine," He promised. "Plus, you're a lot smaller than me." He added.
"Alright," I drawed out the word hesitantly.
I dropped to the ground, mimicking Christian's position. Then, i began slowly wriggling my way through. And suddenly, I was also standing on the other side of the fence, Christian grasping my arms tightly.
"See, now that wasn't so bad, was it?" He chuckled.
"I guess not," I sighed.
"Now come on. I want to show you something," he smiled excitedly.
"Alright," I giggled. It was difficult to deny his happiness.
After a while, we came to a break in the surrounding trees. Through this break, was a large meadow. A small sea of flowers blowing in the slight breeze.
"Beautiful," I found my self whispering. It was barely a breath.
"Yes, you are beautiful." The words were so simple. Yet, they filled my heart with something i could only describe as- Love? I wouldn't know. But his voice made my breath catch, and i couldn't look past his eyes. His deep, deep eyes.
"Hailey," When he whispered my name...
He cupped my face with his hand, his head slanting down at me.
Slowly and gently, His lips met mine.
And I knew. In that moment, I knew. I knew that he was the one. He was the one i wanted to spend the rest of my life with. In this horrid place that was my life, he could be mine. I smiled.
After a little while, I found myself on the ground, Christian hovering slightly above me. Our lips stil connected.
"I. Love. You," I caught myself saying between kisses.
He pulled back uprubtly.
"Y-you love me?" His eyes grew wide.
"I-I'm sorry, I-" My stammer was cut off.
"No, No, don't be sorry. I love you too," he assured me.
"But, then what's wrong?" I was confused.
"It's just that nobody has ever told me that they loved me before. Not even my parents," He looked down, sad.
"R-really?" I've never stuttered this much in my life.
"Yeah. I spent the first 10 years of my life in Pennsylvania. Growing up in a small house outside of Bethel, My parents didn't have very much money, so they struggled with three kids. I was the oldest. I was the most likely to be sent away first. It was me, My little brother Justin, and my Even younger sister Christina. Me and my dad would illegally hunt and kill Porcuppines and Hedge Hogs," He looked ashamed.
"People would pay big money for them. I don't remember why exactly, but my dad owned his own miniature black market. Being one of nature, I would've thought my dad would want to protect wildlife, not jeporidize it's population."
"What do you mean, 'One of nature', " I asked.
"My father was a Werewolf."
