Chapter 6

I've come to realize that it gets very cold at night in the middle of the woods. Christian was trying to keep my shivering body warm when it dawned on me. Fire. I had the power to make fire, and I had totally forgotten about it.

"Fire" I whispered.

"What? Hailey?" Christian whispered back.

"I said Fire. I can make fire," I said louder now.

I allowed a wave of anger to flow through me. Thinking about my mother abondoning me. About dumping me in an institute. And there was heat. Dethawing my frozen fingers, then my face.

"Oh. Wow. I can't believe neither of us though of that." Christian wouldn't admit it, but he was beggining to get cold, too.

"We weren't really thinking of anything except for not being found," i explained.

Suddenly, Christian stood up.

"What are you doing?" I asked, alarmed.

"Finding fire wood, and some tinder." he answered.

"Tinder? What's that?" I asked, confused. I've hear of fire wood of course, but i had no idea what tinder was.

"It's something you need to start a fire. It's readily combustible material, such as dry twigs, used to kindle fires. Tinder is also called kindling," He chuckled at my wide eyes.

"OK, I understood that, but those were really big words for you."

He laughed again.

"And, if i have a infinite supply of fire, then why do we need... tinder?" I asked.

"You've got a point there... So, I guess we just need some wood," he said, lost in thought.

"Alright, just tell me what to grab," I said, attempting to stand. I leaned all my weight onto my right ankle.

"Not uh. No you don't. Not on that ankle. I'll just be quick, I'll stay right around this area," He said sternly.

I humphed childishly, crossing my arms over my chest.

He chuckled.

"I'll be right back," He kissed my lips. "Promise," he whispered.

"Fine," I grumbled.

Within minutes, he was back with an arm full of sticks.

"Here, hold the fore of these," He instructed, while lying them on the ground.

I did as he said, and after a minute or two, the wood caught. I smiled.

"Nice," He grinned.

"Why do you think we can do the thinks we can do?" I asked randomly.

"I don't know. But they really come in handy sometimes," He said, still smiling.

"So... You have super strength? We never got to really finish that convorsation."

"Yeah, I guess so. Not like that will really ever come in handy. Your powers are more useful than mine," He sighed.

"That isn't true. Super strength could actually come in handy. You also have Telekinesis," I reminded him.

"Yeah, but so do you. In the end, you're more useful than me," He sighed, looking down.

"Christian, don't you Ever say anything like that again. You are amazing. If you don't see a purpouse in yourself, it's because you haven't realized it yet. And you are far more useful than me. Don't ever forget that," I was whispering. "Now, I don't want to talk about it anymore," I finished.

"I'm sorry," he wrapped me in his arms, seeing how upset I was. I don't see what my problem really was. I was overreacting.

"It's fine. It just hurts me to see people feeling down about theirselves. Saying that they aren't as good as me. They are far better."

"Hailey. You're being a hypocrit. I don't want you feeling down about yourself either. You are wonderful. The best thing in the world. And, might I add, the best thing that's ever happened to me," He said, making me smile.

I whispered, "I have never ever said this to anyone before in my whole entire life, other than to my brother. I love you. You are now my reason for living. I would have been stuck back there all by myself without you or anyone else, if it wasn't for you. I love you," I finished.

    "You've really never said that to anyone else but your brother?" His voice shook.

   "No. No one else. Not even my parents. Even if I loved them deep down, I would never ever say that to them. They did not deserve it. The only reason we're going to my mothers home, is because my brother is most likely there. As long as he hasn't told my mom about being a Werewolf," I was still whispering.

   "What did you say your brothers name was?" He breathed, wiping away a tear with his thumb.

"Riley."

   ~~~~CHRISTIAN'S POV~~~~
     Dark brown hair. Stunning amber eyes. Beautiful, perfect nose. Amazing slim, figured, body.
God, I love her.
"Beautiful," I whisper.
   "My brother's name?" she tilted her head to the side, looking at me strangly.
"You," I replied simply.
   I wrapped her tighter in my arms as she blushed. She was still shivering. Even though she was closest to the fire, she was still cold. It had taken a lot of body heat to create. I was warm, so I could keep her warm with my body heat.
     She drifted off to sleep in my arms.
      I don't know how I felt about being so close to the institute right now. We should have gone further. But Hailey's ankle needed to rest. Tomorrow we had to get a move on.
    Sitting here, I realize I had brought a first aid kit with, and had stuck it in my back pack. I can't believe I didn't think of that. I totally forgot I had put it in there. Tomorrow, I'll wrap up her ankle.
        I love her. I never thought I could love anyone. Anyone at all. Especially like I love her. She is absolutely the best thing in the whole entire world for me. She was ment for me. I didn't deserve her. I knew that much. But when you love someone as much as I love her, then it's really difficult to stay away. And now, we needed eachother more than ever. She was mine. I was her's.
   We've been best friends since I arrived at the institute. I remember when I walked through those doors for the first time. There she was, sitting at a desk in the Library. Cute little pink cheeks, she was staring back at me with adorable huge, round, amber eyes. Her long hair reaching the middle of her back. I headed over to her first.
    "Hey wanna be friends?" I asked, as I was a little kid too.
       "Sure!" She laughed.
  And since that day forward, we've been best friends.
       All of a sudden, we began dating. She reached across the table in lunch, and kissed me on the cheek. I let her. Why wouldn't I? I've had a crush on her since the moment I laid eyes on her.
