Jasper slumped to the floor his originally white shirt was slowly turning red.

I looked to where the attackers were standing, but they were no longer there. His hand clutched the wound.

My heart stopped for a moment and my eyes fixed on Jasper.

"Jasper!" I call out his name, rushing to his side. "Jasper! Jasper! Look at me!"

His eyes slowly rolled to mine before he squinted, turning his eyes into slits until they shut completely.

"Colton!" I screamed, "Colton, help him!"

Colton rushed to aid Jasper and I followed suit.

"Nate, fetch my backpack. There's a first aid kit in there," Colton instructed whilst pressing on Jasper's wound in attempt to stop the bleeding.

By the time Nate got back with the bag, Jasper's entire shirt was soaked red.

I sat cross-legged with Jasper's head rested on my lap and held his hand in my own as Colton pulled out the arrow it slowly it revealed itself inch by inch, he carefully dabbed it with gauze to minimalize the bleeding then drenching the gauze in strong alcohol to clean out the wound.

It was only an hour later when I realised Nate had left a while ago.

"It's getting late, we should head off to bed."

"Is it okay if just stay here for a while," my voice was soft and tired. Colton hesitated for a while before nodding his head and walking away.

With a sigh I looked down at my hands. Jasper's blood had dried underneath my nails. I wish it was me. I instead of Jasper God knows I deserve it. I wish I had never said what I said. I brushed his hair out of this face. His eyes were still closed and his face was pale. I carefully replaced the dressing and settled down next to him on the floor.

I wanted to forget the traumatic events that occurred today but I couldn't. I couldn't just pretend like nothing had happened.

David Lard ran his hands through his hair for the umpteenth time. He stares at the large screens that displayed what was going over the fence. He huffed out in frustration.

"Nothing is happening Edith we've been sitting in front of these screens for days and nothing is happening it's not moving fast enough, "David snapped at Edith Forrester who was sitting next to him with her face buried in her hands exhausted.

"What is that you want David it has only been four days give it time."

"I don't have time to waste and you know that we need action," David said leaning back in his leather seat with a smirk on his face

"David! This is not a game these are real people we are killing."

David stood up and walked over to Edith he placed his hands on the arm rests of her chair

So that their noses inches apart. His dark green eyes bore holes into Edith's. If looks could kill Edith would be dead a thousand times over.

"You are not thinking about double crossing me now are you Edie. After all you yourself know what happens when people try to turn on me, or should we go ask your dead husband and friends.''

He pulled back with a sinister smile on his face. Edith stared down at her lap biting back the tears that were threatening spill over.

"Send out the decoys and start sending the packages," he demanded. "I also want you to double the dosage of 460010.''

"David no they're not ready for that yet."

David shot her a warning look so sharp it could've cut diamonds. Edith went silent nodding her head reluctantly. Doubling the dosage of 460010 was not a wise move but David was not a man to listen to reason. Her stomach was unsettled with guilt. The children that she had thought of as her own she was now killing off one at a time.

I woke up sitting up slowly. I turned to look at Jasper a bit of colour had returned to his face but he was still pale. His lips were cracked and his breathing was shallow but at least he was breathing. At last he was alive. I change his dressing again he wasn't bleeding as much as he was before.

Nate walked towards us a scowl set on his face. He was angry anyone with eyes could see that.

"What's wrong?"'

"Nothing,'' he said unconvincingly.

"Cut the crap Nate, spit it out," I snapped rather harshly not in the mood for games.

His eyes darkened. It seemed he was not in the mood for games as well.

"Why are you here, Skye?"

"What do you mean? Where else would I be?"

"No, I mean why you are here with him," he looked at Jasper as if he was worth no more than a pile of rubbish on the side if the road.

"Have you suddenly gone blind? Jasper got shot. He's bleeding out. What do you want me to do just sit back at watch him die, "I raised my voice slightly.

"I never know what the hell is up or down with you one day you were summoning death upon him and now here you are playing wife,'' he shouted.

"He may not be the most innocent guy, but no one deserve to die. "

"So what are you hoping that if you sit here and change his bloody bandages that will make anything better? That even if does die at least you tried to help him? You can't save him Skye. You can't save the world. Truth is we're all probably going to die in this hellhole. He's just one scratched off the list.''

"You know right now wish you were one of them."

Nate's face fell for a second.

"You don't mean that," he said trying to convince himself more than me.

"Maybe I do."
