Chapter 24

*16 years later*

General POV
Tyler and Ashley are now married and decided to have another child when Ethan was 7 years old. They ended up with twins! A boy and a girl; Harley and Poppy. Ethan is now 16 and the twins are 9.

Shay and Drew are married and have a daughter called Mia who is also 16 years old they have a son called Alfie who is 11.

Lucy and Keegan have two boys. James who is 7 and Ben who is 4.

Ethan's POV
"Ethan, for the 5th time will you tidy your bedroom. It's an absolute mess" My mum shouted downstairs. Recently she's been consistently moaning at me. My dad and I used to be really close and he used to take me to football (soccer) games a lot but now he's more interested in Harley and Poppy. As much as i love Harley and Poppy, they have life a lot easier than me. School is crap and I'm getting really bad grades. I stomp upstairs and go and tidy my room.

"Ethan when will you learn to keep your room tidy, all you do is mope around all day doing nothing. I don't even understand how you create such a mess in your room if you just sit in one spot" My mum shouted at me. I just ignore her.

I hear my phone buzz and look to see who has texted me.
Megan: Lets go get some food tonight, I need to get out the house and I miss you.

Me and megan had been together for a while now. I liked her but she always wanted to meet up meaning I have no time to do school work. Mum and Dad aren't too keen on here because they've seem her around smoking. I'm not into that but she is and I can't stop her.

I walk downstairs into the games room. Harley is playing fifa, I decide to grab a controller and join in. "Dad can you come and play fifa with me and Ethan please" harley called out. I sigh. Soon he came in and sat next to me and joined in with us. I sat in silence because i was still in a mood at him for saying he'd take me to a match but he never did because I failed a math test we did at school.

"I'm going out to meet Megan" I tell him as I get up to leave. "No you're not, I'm fed up of that girl ruining your chances of getting good grades. Ethan why are you with her, I can see you don't love her" he told me. He was right, I didn't love her but she was the only one who would show interest in me. Well Mia (shay and drew's daughter) always texted me, to see how I'm doing. At one point I really liked her but I just figured it just wouldn't work, what with our parents all being best friends.

I decided to sneak out and quickly meet Megan. I go and find her but the thing is I'm here to break up with her. My dad is right, she's not good for me. "Look megan i think you deserve someone better than me and I can't have a relationship right now. I'm falling behind in every subject and my mum and dad are not happy about it. So I'm really sorry but i think we should just be friends" I walk away straight away because I knew i'd feel bad and take it back when If i saw her crying.

I walk home and go up to my room and just sit there and cry. I can't deal with life, I'm not smart enough for school, my family just want to have an arguments with me all the time and now i just make people unhappy.

Poppy comes in my room and sits next to me "Why are you crying?" She asks concerned. Poppy was always so sweet and caring she was the best younger sister ever. "Oh sometimes when you are a teenager things don't go right and you'll understand when you are older" i tell her. She just hugs me.

Tyler's POV
I was sat on the sofa with Ashley and Harley watching a film when Poppy came in and told us Ethan was upset. Me and Ashley shot up to his room to find out why he was crying. We walked in and Ethan had his head in his knees crying his eyes out. Ashley sits next to him and puts her arm around him "sweetie whats wrong, we want to help" she says. "As if you care" he shrugs her hand off of his shoulders. "We care a lot about you!" I tell him.

"You never care about me anymore, Harley and Poppy are the perfect children in your life. As the saying goes three's a crowd and guess what they are right! I dont fit in around here. I can never make either of you proud and I'm stupid at school and I'm disappointing you with my bad grades and now I've made megan cry because i actually listened to you for once" he shouted at us.

"We can try and help you, and we love you, harley and poppy the same!" Ashley says. "You don't fucking love us all the same, you shout at me everyday. You never care when I'm home, you ignore me when you aren't shouting at me" he snaps. "Language" I tell him. Ashley gets up and walks out of the room crying.

"Look at that, you've made her cry. Feel better now?" I shout at him. I leave the room and rush after Ashley.

Shes in our bedroom crying because of what Ethan says. "I failed as a mother, my own kid doesn't even like me and feels worthless because of me!" She cries. "Ashley shh, calm down. Ethan is just going through a rough patch. Look I'm going to put the twins to bed and me and you can watch a movie tonight ok. We'll leave this for tonight and sort it tomorrow" I kiss her.

I get the twins a glass of water and put Harley to bed first. He gets into bed "love you Harley and see you in the morning. Not too early!" I tell him and I kiss him goodnight. I go into Poppy's room and she is already tucked up into bed, I give her a kiss "Love you princess". "Daddy? Will Ethan be ok, i don't like him crying, he not supposed to cry" she says. "Baby he will be fine, he's just a bit sad today. Don't worry, get some sleep"

I walk into Ethan's room to tell him the twins are going to bed so try and keep the noise down. But when i walk in there he isn't here, his window is open. Shit, has he gone out? I run around the house trying to find him. I run into our bedroom "Ethan's left and I have no idea where he's gone" I begin to feel tears fall down my face. We made Ethan want to leave, he's right. We don't pay as much attention to him as we used to. I'm such a bad parent.
