I slowly exit the car and walk up to Jacob.
"I need to explain everything..." He says.
I nod. "Yeah you do!"
He sighs before he continues. "That picture of us...that wasn't recent..."
I snort and shake my head. "Listen if you're going to lie to me just go."
"I'm not lying in the summer me and Emma dated I swear!" He said pulling up the picture on his phone. "See no snow in the back ground."
My eyes widened at the realization that he dated her. her. I took a few steps back, tears stinging my eyes.
"Jacob I." I started to say.
"Don't because even though I didn't cheat I still feel horrible."
"When did you guys date?" I sobbed.
"In the summer but she cheated so we broke up."
I sobbed. "Was she the one you loved but she broke your heart?" I asked.
He nodded. "I'm sorry Nat.."
"I forgive you."
He looked up surprised. "What?"
"I forgive you." I ran up and kissed him.
It felt like the world stopped for a moment while I kissed him. I loved him. Even if he didn't love me back I still loved him and I wont ever let him go.
"Finally!" Katelin squealed.
I pulled back and looked in his eyes. A car pulled up in the driveway pulling me out of my trans.
"Toby!?" I squealed running and jumping in his arms.
"Hey lil sis!" He said picking me up and spinning me around.
"Hey Toby." Katelin said.
"Hey Katelin." He replied.
"Toby this is my boyfriend Jacob." I said gesturing to him.
Toby walked up and shake his hand. "Nice to meet you i'm Nat's older brother Toby."
Annie hopped out of the car. "Hey Nat and Katelin!" She squealed hugging us.
Annie was my brother's girlfriend. Annie was rich so they travel the world.
Katelin left a while after that but Jacob stayed to get to know my brother. They were getting along playing video games in the living room. I laughed as I made the salad watching them from the kitchen. Annie pulled out cookies out of the oven. Annie loved to bake and she made delicious cookies. Katherine poured the sauce into the spaghetti. Since Toby was back for Christmas we were going to have a big family dinner.
"Toby sweetie will you help your father with the fire wood?" Katherine called from the kitchen.
"Yeah sure." Toby paused their game and jogged outside.
Jacob walked into the kitchen. "Hey." He said snaking his arms around me.
"Hey." I giggled.
He kissed me on the cheek. "That looks good."
"It's a salad Jacob." I chuckled.
I could feel his warm breath on my neck as he chuckled. Toby walked back in and shrugged off his coat.
"Dude off my sister so we can play our game."
He laughed and walked back over to the couch. My father came back in and started the fire.
Instead of eating at the dining table we ate in the living room playing video games.
"Boom!" I exclaimed. "I bet you Toby whooohooo!" I did a little dance.
Jacob grabbed me by the waist and pulled me back down. "Nice dance nerd." He whispered in my ear.
I giggled. "I know."
"Here Katherine." I said passing it to Katherine.
"Oh I don't know how to play." She said.
"I'll help."My father said putting his arms around her waist and put his hands on the controller.
Toby looked away and I punched him in the arm. "Come on they're cute together."
"Yeah but you know who was cuter? Mom and dad." He whispered.
I shot up from my seat. "I need to get some fresh air." I announced them rushed out the door.
Jacob ran after me. "Nat what's wrong?" He said closing the door.
"Toby doesn't like Katherine." I sobbed.
"he just need some time." He said holding me by the waist.
"It's my fault mom died! if I just didn't go over to Emma's she would still be alive!" I sobbed.
He rocked me back and forth. "Shhh it's not your fault shhh."
After I got calmed down I went back inside.
"Good now that everyone's here." Toby said. "I have an announcement to make."
He pulled something out of his pocket and lowered to one knee. "Annie Peterson will you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me."
"Yes yes yes!" Annie yelled and ran into his arms. "I love you so much!" She said as he slipped the ring on.
Toby was on the back porch drinking a beer with my dad. "Stop rubbing it in. I get it you're twenty one now." I said flopping in the chair next to him.
"Here have a sip sis." He said handing to me.
"But i'm sixteen..."
"Just drink it before I change my mind." My father said.
I took it from Toby and sipped it handing back to him. "Wow who knew my brother was going to give me my first sip of beer."
He chuckled. "I'm surprised you haven't drank beer before.."
"Anyways." I said. "Congrats on proposing to Annie where are you getting married?"
"Here." He said.
"Really!? Omigosh! I can be there to see my big brother get married!"
My father chuckled. "Oh please you'll be there all over your boyfriend."
"Oh come on I love Jacob!" I smacked a hand over my mouth making sure Jacob didn't hear from inside. He didn't.
"Oooooo! My lil sis is in looove!" My brother teased.
I punched him in the arm. "Don't tell him please."
"I promise sis." He giving giving me a pinkie promise.
"Love ya bro."
"Love ya sis."
