We were just staring in silence hearing the heart monitor beat almost slowly. I looked into Bella's rich deep chocolate brown eyes and just stared at her.

She was looking straight back at me with no expression on her face. It creeped me out a little but at the same time it relaxed me.

Carlisle walked to the other side of the bed and felt her pulse.

Fascinating, she has a pulse but it is very light. As if it was almost...gone. It's strange, a normal baby should have a strong yet delicate pulse. Hers is strong but it's almost as if she didn't have on at all. He thought as I read his mind.

"She has a pulse, just a very light one." He said to Esme. Esme looked carefully at the baby for any signs of harm but there weren't any.

We gasped when Esme raised Bella's shirt a little. Bella had a blue snowflake on her right hip, it almost looked like a tattoo. Carlisle inspected it carefully.

"It's not a tattoo, it's a...birth mark." He said surprised.

"That's...new. I never knew there was could be a birthmark in colors." Esme stated delicately touching the snowflake.

"Look's like there's a lot we can learn from this little girl." Carlsile said tickling her stomach ever so slightly. Bella smiled a toothless smile. It just warmed my unbeating heart seeing her smile.

Carlisle grabbed a needle and cleaned it. I knew what he was doing, running a blood test.

"Carlisle, will it hurt her? She's 3 weeks old." Esme said worried.

"It might. I'm not sure if it will since she's a spirit. I just want to do a blood test." Carlisle said. Esme's eyes went wide.

"Don't worry Esme. I will numb her a little so she won't feel a thing." Carlisle said and Esme relaxed.

Carlisle grabbed something from the cabinet. It was a little bottle with reddish orangish liquid the tape read Liquid Numbing.

He grabbed a cotten ball and soaked it a little then rubbed it on her vein. A few seconds later Bella started to whimper.

"Carlisle, I thought you said it wouldn't hurt her." I said carresing Bella's cheek.

"It won't, it just feels a little uncomfortable to her but nothing bad." He said calmly grabbing the needle.

"Turn her head Esme so she won't see the needle. Don't worry I will only take a little bit so I can run some tests to see what she's allergic to and what we need to be careful of." Carlisle said positioning the needle while Esme gently turned Bella's face so she was facing the other way.
