The sun hung from the sky with no clouds covering it as Taylor entered the airport, which was weird since they were in the middle of winter. It was a beautiful day and she was feeling happier than usual, but this had nothing to do with the fact she was going to see Karlie again (or that was what she liked to think).
When the automatic doors opened she walked directly to the check-in balcony. The place was rather loaded today, being near christmas, and she got in the line to check her flight.
She watched with an amused smile as the girl in the uniform attended the customers verifying their documents and luggages.
"Good morning!" Taylor greeted when she finally got to the front of the line.
Karlie finally looked at her.
"Hey!" The green eyed girl flashed her toothy smile at her. "I'm sorry, I'm so busy today, Ed was sick and I'm covering his shift"
"It's okay, I can wait. My flight's only at noon." Taylor dismissed her with a hand.
Being a successful actress required from her a well-travelled life, making the New York International Airport practically her home now. In one of these trips she ended up meeting Karlie, the sweet flight-attendant who once saved her from taking the wrong plane and they instantly became friends. But this was the only place they've ever saw each other, not being able to have a proper talk and neither wanting to risk asking the other's number, so Taylor always got extremely early when her flights were at the period of Karlie's shift and they spent time together as soon as the area was clear for the taller girl. They exchanged smiles as Karlie checked her stuff before going back to the other customers and Taylor caught a magazine to kill time.
---------
After getting her baggage securely dispatched, Taylor busied herself reading the newspaper as she waited for Karlie to attend the few people left. The place was emptying as the minutes passed and she finally could listen the soft music in the background as she concentrated on reading. Ooooh this is interesting, she thought seeing an article about her favorite artist.
'After a few songs at Madison Square Garden-'
"Hey, you" The voice of a customer next to her interrupted her reading.
"Yes, sir?" The green eyed girl answered.
"Uh, apparently, my flight is delayed"
She saw Karlie walking to attend the man before her eyes turned back to the newspaper.
'After a few songs at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night-'
"Look I don't know what's the problem with you that you can't seem to understand it, but I need to get to Detroit today."
Taylor felt her neck hairs bristling when the guy raised his voice.
"I'm sorry, sir. There's really nothing I can do, if you wait here for a couple minutes I can ask some information from the central." Karlie turned back to make a call and Taylor let out a deep breath going back to her previous task.
'After a few -'
"Yeah and you better do your job right."
Taylor's back got tense at the same time as Karlie's did.
"Excuse me?"
"You heard right, I'm not coming here to be treated with incompetence. I paid for this shit, I have rights!"
Taylor watched with gritted teeth as Karlie silently listened to the guy.
"You know, I get here with all my luggage and a schedule that I need to attend! And now you tell me to wait?"
The people around started to watch closely the exchange being made, Karlie's cheeks were turning the slightest shade of red as she swallowed hard. Taylor looked at the guards behind Karlie as if urging for them to do something. That didn't seem to work though.
"I have a following schedule! If you don't have the reaponsibility-"
"Sir, please, I'll have to ask you to calm-"
"DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHO I AM?"
"Listen here, moron." Taylor slapped the counter with her hand startling the man, "I don't know who you are and she doesn't either so you better calm the fuck down."
"T-Taylor Swif-"
Oh this is so going to be in the news tomorrow...
"Who do you think you are to be talking to people like this? I don't care if your flight is delayed, I don't need to know it, nor these other people sitting here just wanting get their documents checked and some kind of peace before their trips, so you really don't need to raise you voice like this." She pointed her index finger to the shocked man's chest. "And this lady right here is just doing her job and even trying to help you, something that you clearly do not deserve. I don't care if you are a CEO or the Pope because, right now, you're acting like a jerk and you know what? I hate jerks. So I recommend you to get a fucking rented car and drive yourself to Detroit because I'm praying to my ancestors your flight's getting canceled."
Karlie and the guy stared at her dumbfounded as the people around them started to applaud her. The media's gonna flip.
---------
"Where are you going this time?"
"St Louis"
"Really? I was born there!"
Karlie was following the actress on the way to her gate since she was on her lunch break. Taylor had only her cat Olivia in hand, her bag with Meredith being carried by the taller girl. She tried to take it from Karlie, but the girl said it was the least she could do to thank Taylor for what she'd done previously.
"I wish we had more time so we could get lunch together." Karlie stated as they passed by some restaurants.
"Well, we can do it when I get back... If you want..."
"Is Taylor Swift asking me out?"
"Maybe... But only if the answer's yes, because I'm too cool to be rejected."
Karlie laughed and extended her hand.
"Give me your phone."
Taylor was shocked at the realisation that she didn't miss a bit before unlocking the cellphone and handing it to Karlie.
"Here" Karlie returned it to her after a couple seconds. "That's my number"
By the time they finally got to Taylor's gate, they exchanged goodbyes, the singer sorely blushing when Karlie placed a quick kiss on her cheek.
"Thanks again, for earlier."
"Stop thanking me and take me out on Saturday." Taylor winked.
Karlie watched by the windows as Taylor got on the plane, but before she could turn around to leave her phone buzzed in her purse.
Unknow Number says: So, now you have my number too. Call it if you need me to yell at another customer :)
She laughed as her thumbs typed a reply.
Karlie says: Will do. See you on Saturday ;)
