The next day actually went by a little slower than I thought it would. Even though it's early release, it felt like the regular hours were faster. During the last period of the day, Rayan and Craig asked me to come over to Starbucks to hang.
"Sorry guys, I can't," I simply told them with a shrug, receiving eye rolls and groans from them. "I promised Jacob I would hang out at his place today." I explained.
Craig was now smiling and laughing with a brown-haired girl name Janae who was sitting next to him at the table. Rayan was roughly combing his long, jet black hair with his shiny purple prickly brush while him and I were waiting patiently for the bell to ring.
"Jacob? You mean that new guy with the afro?" Rayan asked, giving me a quizzical look.
I mentally chuckled as I recalled Jacob telling me that when I didn't know he was texting me. "Yep, that's him." I replied.
A look of bewilderment crossed over the long-haired, mixed African American as he looked off to the side. "You know, he seems kind of weird," Ray commented, shrugging nonchalantly whilst bending over in his chair to tie his shoe. "But he's pretty cool I guess." he added.
I smiled at that compliment because I thought the same thing of Jacob. He's mad cool, and has a tolerable sense of humor that I liked.
I took my phone out of my pants pocket and slowly twirled it in my hand out of boredom. I slightly lifted my head and silently observed Rayan tying his shoe. I cocked my head to the side a little and slowly wetted my plump lips.
As Ray leaned forward to tie his shoe, his white shirt he was wearing was rising up, revealing half of his smooth, milk-chocolate back. His black pants had sagged a bit, relevantly showing some of the fabric of his grey boxers he wore.
Despite that Rayan is indeed very skinny, I could tell he was kind of muscular in a way from working out at his basketball practices. I anxiously wanted to slowly run my hand on his smooth, brown back to see what it felt like.
Wait wha...what the hell am I saying?!
I quickly turned my head away when Rayan sat back up in his chair. "Goddamn, when the bell gon' ring?" Rayan hissed impatiently.
I wondered the same thing. That bell needs to ring soon, or I might die from embarrassment for checking out Ray's back. I am so weird, who does that? What's wrong with me...
Seconds later the bell finally rang, and I practically leaped out of my chair and darted down the hallways, ignoring Craig and Rayan's calls and everyone's awkward stares.
I stopped running when I got to the parking lot trying to catch my breath. "Lord I'm tired," I breathed. I placed my hands behind my head and lazily walked around exhausted. I leaned on a nearby pole and softly inhaled and exhaled through my nose.
I let the light breezes of the atmosphere cool my body down, but then I suddenly felt a warm sensation through my bicep, making me jump.
"Hi, Chresanto," the smooth accented voice spoke.
I blew out a breath in relief as it was only Jacob. He had his hand gently grasped around my arm. When I looked at him, I tried as hard as I could to avoid his eyes. Those eyes are like Medusa's, only I don't turn into stone when I look into them. Instead I turn into jelly.
He was smiling that same smile he had when we had our first encounter; Still bright as the sunshine.
I mirrored his smile and greeted, "Hey, Jacob," I stood up straight and fixed my sleeve. "Ready to go?" I asked.
"More than ever," Jacob replied, kind of catching me off guard, but I ignored it. Jacob let go of my arm and followed beside me to my vehicle.
"So, uh..." Jacob began, trying to make small talk. "How long have you had your car?"
"For about a few months now. I bought it for myself for my birthday present, and it was the best gift ever," I said with a chuckle. "I spent all of my allowance money I was saving up just to buy it." I added.
Jacob smiled. "When's your birthday?" he asked.
"July 23rd; Leos all day, baby!" I declared proudly.
Jacob giggled at my goofiness. "I was born on April 21st. I'm a Taurus." His eyes looked down while he was in his own world. His dark brown curls of an afro bounced with each step he took. I thought that was cute.
Jacob's big brown eyes got even bigger in amazement when we got to my car. "This is your car?" he exclaimed in an excited I-can't-believe-it voice.
I lowly laughed and nodded. "Yes, this is mines." I simply replied smiling.
I pressed the button on my keys to unlock the car, and like a hobo seeing food for the first time, Jacob eagerly opened the passenger door and sat in the clean, dark-leathered cushioned seat, gazing inside the car overjoyed.
"Wow... this is amazing, Chres." he gasped out, eyes glimmering in astonishment. I smiled as I felt my cheeks warm up. I smiled at how adorable Jacob had looked right now; I blushed at the fact that this was the first time Jacob called me 'Chres.'
I closed Jacob's door and walked over to the driver's side, easing my way into the car. "This was really nice of you to drive us to my house, Chres." Jacob said softly. My cheeks got warmer when he called me Chres again.
"Oh, y-yeah. I-I don't mind," I stuttered, feeling nervous as I felt Jacob looking at me.
"Thank you," he whispered in the same tone he whispered in my ear back in the cafeteria when he said, "See you around."
My heart was fluttering. My hand felt shaky and sweaty as I put the keys in and started up the car. Shivers rushed through my back when I placed both of my hands on the steering wheel and drove out of the parking lot.
"You're welcome."
