Just like I suspected, I had gotten an after school detention for being literally 10 minutes late for class. I was beyond shocked. I had never got a detention before in my life. I knew that was probably going on my permanent record.

But as of right now, I really didn't care. My eyes were sore and my cheeks were soaked from all the crying I did in the hallway. I feel so stupid for what I did. I had just lost my one true love for some dumb, irrelevant bullshit.

        My "reputation."

I could only imagine what would happen if Jacob and I walked in school, hand in hand. People would be blurting the hateful word "faggot" here and there, hurting me inside. I know I shouldn't care what other people think, but at the same time, I do care. I hated myself for that.

Why couldn't people just be happy for couples who are same-sex? It was no different than being happy for "regular" couples. (Well, to me there's no difference).

Why can't some people just accept it? Why did society have to be so fucked up?!

After school ended, I miserably headed to the ISS room where detention was being held. On my way there, I had passed by my so-called "friend" Craig, which I was surprised to see him not following Rayan's lizard-looking ass.

He smiled his bright toothy grin and said hey to me. We exchanged glances for a second before I blatantly ignored him on purpose and kept walking. I could feel him looking after me, completely baffled by my actions. I felt kind of bad for doing that, but I was still pretty upset with him at the moment.

When I walked in the ISS room, it was surprisingly completely empty. The only person physically there was the detention teacher, Miss Moore. She greeted me with a warm smile, making me smile back.

Believe it or not, she was the nicest, understanding teacher here at this school. Everyone loved her for her helpful generosity and loving kindness. She was an exact replica of actress Meagan Good, only a bit shorter with shoulder-length brown hair.

I made my way over to the last row of desks located in the far back of the classroom. I was overjoyed to be the only one in detention today, since usually it would be full for ASD.

"I'm surprised to see you here, Chresanto." Miss Moore spoke to me honestly while organizing some files. "How'd you get detention?"

"I was ten minutes late for my sixth period class," I explained.

The 21-year-old teacher chuckled and stacked some papers in another file. "That's a shocker. You're hardly ever late for any of your classes. Well, I guess there's a first time for everything, huh?" she said with another chuckle.

Miss Moore's contagious chuckles made me laugh a little. "Yeah, I guess so." I agreed.

Then, out of nowhere came three knocks from the door, echoing through the whole hollow room. "Come in..." Miss Moore called, still focusing on the files.

I knew whoever it was is probably a teacher or something, so I nonchalantly began playing with the silver paw print key chain of my necklace and looked out the window.

After the door opened, I heard Miss Moore inhale a fake, dramatic gasp and exclaim in a surprised voice, "Jacob Perez? You have detention, too?!"

A sudden jolt immediately went through me as soon as I heard that name. I jerked my head towards the entrance, feeling my heart flutter as my lover stood by the door, smiling his adorable smile.

"Yep. I was kind of just a tiny bit late to my sixth period class," he explained to Miss Moore, bringing his pointer finger and thumb to almost touch when he said "tiny."

Miss Moore let out a pleasant laugh, shaking her head. "Today has just been full of surprises..." she inquired, making Jacob laugh at that. I smiled a little as he laughed. It made me all happy inside to see him happy.

Miss Moore then arose from her seat, holding the many files she neatly organized in one arm as if they were books. "I've gotta go deliver these files to Principal Jones real quick," she informed with a sigh.

She smiled at Jacob, who nodded in understanding. "Just make yourself at home, and keep Chresanto over there company." she implied, glancing at me.

And with that, she left the room, impeccably unattended.

"Be good!" she called from behind the closed door before officially click-clacking down the hallway.

Jacob had automatically frowned at my name. He just stood there by the door, glaring at me. I stared at him back.

Here we were...in this room...alone...once again.

Jacob kissed his teeth. "BOO!" he sassed.

"Boo to you, too!" I immaturely sassed back. Really Chresanto.

Jacob rolled his eyes at my weak comeback and muttered something slick under his breath. He angrily marched over to a desk in the front row, making sure to stay as far away from me as possible.

After he let out an irritated groan, I couldn't help but smirk and snicker to myself. I have to admit, Perez is definitely extra cute when he's mad...
