Friday had finally came around, and I finally took that Math test I was stressing over. By the end of the class period, I had found out by my Algebra teacher, Mrs. Landis, that I got the highest score of a 95 on my test out of the whole class.
I know it seems cheesy to say, but hard work does pay off.
I met up with Rayan and Craig after class at their lockers with a big smile on my face and told them the good news.
"That's great, bro!" Rayan congratulated patting my back, whereas Craig mirrored my bright smile and shook my shoulder in recognition.
Rayan let out a fake sigh. "Now we ain't gotta worry about you worrying over that damn test anymore." he commented.
"Truuue!" added Craig.
I rolled my eyes at them and shook my head. I looked at the fifty-six questioned Math test in my hands in amazement. I couldn't believe that I actually passed and got the highest score out of everyone else in my class. This has got to be the best day ever!
Unawarely a jolt struck through me like lightning when I felt someone tap me three times on my shoulder. I quickly turned around and my eyes met the face of a giggling Serenity Cunnigan. I blew out a breath of relief and smiled at her.
"Oh, hey Serenity," I greeted.
"Hey, Chres." she replied in between her giggles from startling me.
My joyful expression had slightly crestfallen, but I put on a fake smile to cover up my discomfort.
Chres. I missed being called that by a certain someone, who I had treasured and loved dearly. Fortunately he still goes to this school, but I haven't associated with him ever since that night. I avoided him every chance I could get.
In Chemistry class, I moved all the way to the front of the classroom just so I could avoid sitting next to him. I've been going to the library instead to eat lunch, because I knew he would be in the cafeteria. Every time I saw him walking my way in the hallway, I would walk in the opposite direction.
I had to avoid him. It was the only way to keep my reputation, and his reliability safe. Because as of right now, honestly, I wanna push my secret lover against a locker and have a full, sweet makeout session with him.
Wait, Chresanto, no! Think straight thoughts, think straight thoughts...
"Chresanto, are you feeling okay?" Serenity's concerned voice escaped me from my previous thoughts.
I snapped my head up and looked at her. "Huh? Oh yeah, I-I'm fine. R-really." I lied.
"You sure, bro. I mean, you've been acting kind of...strange lately." Ray spoke while giving Serenity's friend, Angeline a hug. Craig stood next to Serenity, giving me a look that read, I've-been-noticing-that-too.
Little tricklings of sweat formed on my forehead. I was trembling with apprehension. "I'm alright, you guys. Honest." I spoke softly, looking back and forth at them with reassuring eyes.
All four of my friends looked at each other for confirmation. There was a five second pause before Serenity humped her shoulders and rested her hands on my shoulders. "Okay Chres, if you say so," she agreed. She smiled her sweet smile at me, making me smile back.
Everyone else smiled in agreement.
"Aye, we still on for that After Party after the game tonight, right?" asked Angeline.
