A/n: this is a log one. Enjoy. Keep it sane!

We didn't run for long before the doors were kicked down by the people in the front. Everybody's pace quickened as we all sped through the uncharted halls.
"Okay, which way do we need to go?" I asked the boy (who was currently holding my hand, I might add).
"Right, than again, than left, fourth door on the right." Mitch's voice came out a squeak at first. We followed the complex path, him now leading me, until we made it to his old room door. We both sucked in deep, sharp breaths before glancing at each other and knocking down the door.
A high pitched scream came from inside the room, but I swiftly covered the small girl, I assumed was Kirstin's, mouth. She tried to push me off. I would admit that she was very strong. She could have probably got out of my hold if Mitch hadn't intervened.
"Kirstin. Kirstin. You need to calm down." The small brunette took off his goggles and the girl stopped almost instantly. When I dubbed her calm enough, I released my grip on her biceps.
"Mitchell? We all thought you were dead." She stated, not moving forward to him at all.
Mitch cringed, like he had been hurt hard by that, but quickly masked it. "Actually,it's just Mitch. I know that you probably have questions, but right now we don't have time. We will give you an outfit, I need you to put it on, alright?"
That was my que to hand her the extra outfit. She snatched the outfit and left into the bathroom. She was in and out very fast. When she came out, she ran straight to Mitch for a hug. Like everything had just been processed. He seemed shocked but hugged her back. I let it go on for a minute, but when it still showed no signs of ending, I had to interrupt.
"I don't mean to be rude, but we really need to go." The let go of each other to face me. "This is going to be hell for the two of you. Our goal is to get out of your headquarters alive." I waited a moment before continuing out of the room."I'm sorry." Part of me wanted to look into Mitch's eyes. Just to see how much he needed to be helped. The other half of me knew that there was no possible way I could look into his innocent eyes. I would fall again, I would fall hard. The only thing I would want to do is to stop the hurt he is undeniably feeling. Now was not the time, so I kept my gaze down.
As soon as I stepped out into the hallway, I saw three people in a pool of their own dark blood. Two Rezmence and one patron. I looked back for a second to make sure the other two were following. I took in their expressions. They were staring at one of the dead people dressed in grey, the two had faces that seemed as cold and hard as a stone, even though most of their faces were covered by the goggles. I had to direct my stare back to in front of us.
We turned the corner to be met by a Rezmence with a gun. He was very tall and looked like he had a strong muscular build. "Get to the ground!" I hesitated for a moment before doing what I was told. If I could get to my knives, I could kill him. But in the thrill of the moment back in Mitch's old room, I didn't think to get them out. Now, everyone was going to die, and it was my fault. I would never see into Mitch's deep chocolate eyes ever again. I would never tell him that I loved him. He would never live again. And it was my fault.
I had assumed that Mitch and Kirstie had knelt down behind me until I saw movement in the corner of my eye. Mitch had knelt down beside me. I was staring at my reflection in his goggles as he did the same to mine. He mouthed something that I didn't quite catch at first. It gave me hope, his being a Rezmence trained him to think of a solution out of things. He had a plan. He mouthed the word again and this time I understood. 'Trip.'
We both looked towards our captor. He must be new to killing because he was shaking and we would have been dead by now if he was experienced. I looked over to Mitch and nodded just enough for him to see. That was when we both reached out and grabbed a foot and pulled. He was knocked on to his back. With a grunt and a single gunfire before he hit the ground. I stared at the guard dressed in grey to make sure he was knocked out from the fall. He was. When I looked over to Mitch, my victorious smile faulted.
Kirstie had a hand over his mouth to muffle his pained screams so that he wouldn't draw any attention to us. She also had her other hand pressing against his shoulder. Her goggles were up and she looked at me with pleading eyes. That's when everything clicked. He had been shot. I jumped over to him and assessed his injury.
There was a lot of blood. The shot to the shoulder wouldn't be lethal if he didn't bleed out. I picked him up and he groaned very loud. "Kirstin, I need you to get us out of here. Lead us out the quickest way possible." She nodded and started running. I followed her. I remember Mitch telling me that she was a warrior too. So it was only a surprise when she took down the first two men. The rest was just amazement at how quickly and effortlessly she took them down despite her size. Somewhere along the way Mitch had passed out, which only left me in a panic.
We finally made it to the door. Kirstin held it open while I rushed out. In school I had to touch on medical procedures, but I didn't know a lot on the subject. It wasn't my job. But I did know enough to stop the bleeding. I took off my glove and turned it inside out, for safety reasons. I pressed it to his wound and even in his coma, Mitch sucked in a pained breath. I did the same to the other side, where the bullet exited his body, with my other glove. I held them there with the strap of his goggles.
Other Patron started exiting the building too. There was a lot less of us. I guess we still won though. I didn't want this war, now there would be no more Rezmence. And if there was survivors, there wasn't many. And for what? The ability to rule all of the other groups? If we kill off all of the clans, who will there be left to lead? Nobody. This whole system is stupid. "WE DID IT!" Somebody yelled. There was many cheers that followed that. Kirstin and I just stayed silent. There was a moment of silence until she broke down. Nobody paid much attention to us, nothing out of the ordinary. I knelt down beside her and let her cry on my shoulder. Everything she had has just ended. I would break down on a stranger's shoulder too.

After about half of an hour of the Patron warriors partying outside of the wrecked Rezmence headquarters. Kirstin had stopped crying now. She just stared blankly at the dusty sand. "Come on guys, let's go back." someone suggested. I picked up Mitch in a bridal style and we started on our way.
Halfway there Mitch groaned out in pain. His eyes fluttered open and he smiled at me. "What a nice start to a dream." The smaller guy in my arms said dreamily. He thinks this is a dream? "Pretty face." This is probably a loss of blood side effect.
"Mitch, you should go back to sleep, you lost a lot of blood." I stated simply.
"Okay. Goodnight. I love you, Scott." I stopped moving out of stun for a second. He loves me?
