~Darkness...

It's all I've ever known. I've grown accustomed to it. I've even begun to cherish it. I was spared the agony of light until the one clad in green intruded my prison.
He bore the same face that I have gazed into my entire lifetime and carried within him the unbearable radiance of light that held no purpose in my temple. Yet I could not squelch it...I was not powerful enough. However, with defeat brings purpose. I learned of the outside world. Once defeated, my body destroyed, I had little choice but to embrace his light and hide myself within. I saw through the eyes of the light bearer the world as he knew it. I learned of his values.

Honor.

Valor.

Determination.

He held these above all else. Which is perhaps why he defied the man who embraced the darkness, as I do. A man of...respectable power. Yet even he was defeated by the light that scorched my every being. I saw it all, and could do naught to stop it.

What precious darkness was wiped out, ultimately destroyed...

It was an unforgivable injustice. I would bring an end to it, at whatever cost.

I first had to escape my newest prison. The opportunity came many times in the form of my host's own shadow.

I could meld into one at any moment. It would not be difficult to escape the burning grip of his soul.

And yet...

could I? For some reason, even as my very essence slowly disintegrated, it felt right to be within this new quod.

His Triforce repelled me, his soul burned me, yet I never made an effort to flee. Perhaps I simply wished to bide my time, grow my strength and to persevere through the pain. Or perhaps it was for deeper reasons not yet understood by myself...

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Blue light poured from the heavens unto the pedestal of the 'Bane of All Evil'. As Zelda's spell dissipated, it revealed the young 'Hero of Time', thrust back once more from the future he did not belong in.

A small sprite materialized from Link, and bobbed up and down in joy at their victory.

The life of Link's personal fairy Na'vi, who had guided him throughout his journey to defeat Gannon, was now at an end. Her own task complete, (set what seemed so long ago by the ancient Deku Tree) there was nothing left for her but to fade quickly away into nothingness.

She wished not to die in front of her companion, so she floated high above Link's head until she was within a visible flying path to the window. She loosed forward, trying not to look behind her in fear of delaying the inevitable, and in a streak of blue light shot out into the world one...last...time.

The hero of time stared as his friend flew away, unsure as to what would make Na'vi take off without warning like that. Not too concerned, Link pivoted on his heel, descending the stone steps from the sacred room into the great chamber of the temple of time.

The massive stone wall closed in behind him with a solid *Thunk*, sealing away the hidden path to the sacred realm and the Master Sword. Link soaked in the temple, unsure if he would ever return here. So much had led to this moment, this time of victory.

What fierce creatures he had to face, monstrosities that no child should ever have been able to defeat single-handedly.

well almost.

The golden triangle glistened on his left had, reminding him that he was never truly alone. It consisted of three other triangles, one pointing up, the others left and then right (which he owned). Though this must have only been an imprint of what it once was, it served as a reminder of the Triforce he once commanded, fueling his monster slaying frenzy through Hyrule.

He reached over his right shoulder to feel the shaft of his original blade. This little shank had managed to defeat the horrors that awaited him in the deepest part of the great Deku tree, skeletal corpses that roamed Hyrule field and countless other cursed abominations of nature.

Link gave it an expert twirl around his fingers, getting himself acquainted to it once more. Would he ever get to use it again? Or would he have to ...live a normal life...?! Link shuddered at the thought.

He would rather hunt Deku Babas for the rest of his days than go back to the boring routine he used to live by.

Link sheathed his small blade, assuring himself that he would soon have reason to draw it, and proceeded to the cavernous entrance of the Temple of Time. Every step clicked against the smooth marble ground, despite his leather boots. He stopped once he stepped onto the large pad. He took in the intricacies of the designs. How often had he just used them, never truly admiring the ancient power that allowed him to warp through time and space?

Link took out his Ocarina. Would it even work anymore? He could think of no reason it wouldn't, and chided himself for getting so worked up. Why did he love it all so much? The endless treks through frozen mountains and blazing deserts, never sure when he would get his next meal, or where he would have to camp next. How many times had he nearly died to some horror from hell?

Link stared at the pad, losing himself in thought.

'Will I ever get a quest as fantastic as what I just went through...or is this where it all ends?'

Link brought his head down, his bangs drooping over his bright blue eyes as he did so. He then stepped off the pad, heading towards the heavy double door.

Link took hold of the stone doors and opened them wide, stepping once more into the realm of Hyrule.
