Heartless Courage Book One: Kingdom Hearts meets Legend of Zelda

Chapter XX: Redemption

The life had gone from Nihl's eyes, not unlike when Link had first encountered him. He moved towards the group slowely while his neck contorted along the way. But for a moment, his eyes sparked red.

"Quit fighting it dear, you'll only make this harder on yourself once I'm finished with you. You will destroy the denizens of this wretched world, and our great lord Ganonndorf and myself will lead over it as none have before!!"
Nihl gave them a dead eyed stare from accross the room. He was then in front of Donald.

"Yipe-!!!" Was all he managed to squeal before he was thrown over Nihl's shoulder like a used napkin.

Goofy lowered his shield and prepared to boldoze the incoming heartless, but before he knew it Nihl was standing on top of his shield! He slashed at Goofy with his wicked blade, and he just caught the bridge of his nose before Sora jump kicked Nihl from the shield. Goofy recoiled from the sudden pain, so Sora took his place head to head against the heartless.

Nihl cocked his head to the side, analyzing the boy.
Link was at his side, healed slightly by Donald's Curega, but was still weak from the laceration-caused blood loss.
"Stay behind me, Link." Sora whispered.
In response Link roared as he gripped his sword even tighter and charged the shade.

"Link!" Sora called, chasing after.
Link flew right past Sora and into the back wall as Nihl swiped him away with his hand. Sora jumped into the air and brought his keyblade down to where the heartless stood, had he not blinked away at the last second.
Nihl stood behind him, sword already raised to be thrust throgh Sora's heart, until Goofy rammed him once more with his trusty buckler. Nihl didn't get flung back as far as before, but he lost his balance.

Donald took the opportunity to rain a barrage of Firega onto the stunned heartless, almost all of them hitting their mark. They each exploded with the powerful impact, yet once the smoke cleared Nihl still stood unphased.
"Guys, I'm ganna do it!" Sora cried.
"Give it all you've got Sora!" Donald replied.
"Show that heartless what you can do!" Goofy echoed.

Goofy and Donald ran out of the way as the keyblade warrior gained yet another keyblade. This one was much more intricate than his other simple yellow sword.
His new blade looked much more like an actual sword, only bearing the teeth of a keyblade as an elaberate series of yellow and orange spikes along the tip.

Sora now duel wielded both his Kingdom Key and the Ultima Key.
Before Twinrova could react, he lunged for Nihl. His strikes were like lightning, each harder and faster than the last! Link observed from his crater in the wall in awe.

Nihl could barely keep his ground against the onslaught, but his sword and shield parried with astonishing accuracy.
Sora continued slashing away and fighting through Nihl's defence just trying to find a way through.
The clash of metal to metal became a whir as Sora's strike speed became so fast he was merely a blur at this point.

Then he found flesh. The clang of battle stopped, and was soon replaced by the sound of cutting flesh.
Sora tore into Nihl. He had finally lost his defence and now took hundreds of direct slashes from Sora.
As Nihl collapsed to the ground Sora's unique keyblade fizzled out of existance once more.

"Is...is it over?" Goofy dared to ask.
Sora stared at the defeated mass of shadow.
"I think so..." He replied.

"Hahaheheh! You boys can never stop my creation! He is the ultimate tool of darkness!" Twinrova cackled. With a raise of her hand, Nihl rose from the ground. He bled from every wound, which may have appeared grusome had he bled actual blood. He instead seemed to seep a thick tar-like substance...

The trio faced the heartless, all of them winded.
Link pulled himself from the cavity of the wall. After seeing the trio's hopeless assault on Nihl, he tried to think of a new stratagy.
Wait.. of course! Twinrova floated in the air not far from where they battled, mentally controlling Nihl.
