As Link limped slowly towards Kakariko village, he found that Hyrule field was bustling with activity. Many formations of soldiers from many factions marched towards a singular destination- Hyrule Castle town.
Link would have liked to investigate but he knew he should just listen to Kaepora's advice. Besides, he feared he wouldn't be much help anyways in his state.
It was almost morning when Link finally arrived at Kakariko Village. The front gate was closed and guarded by three fully armored gatekeepers.
"State your business! Are you here from Castle Town?" The guard on the right demanded.Link gave a weak nod.
"Hey... you don't look so good. Are you alright?"The last of Link's energy was used to stumble to the gate. Once here, though, he found himself unable to stand.
Link collapsed into the dirt.
"Whoa, hey! Quick, get him to the clinic!"
He felt several pairs of hands lift him from the ground, and Link drifted off into unconsciousness. They say a hero's dreams are filled with glorious battle. It is suggested the only sounds are those filled with cheering fans as though the hero in question had won the tittle as grand master of the arena.
This may be true for fresh heroes.
Those whos journeys have just barely began. Yet Link is one who has seen more than his fair share of battle and war. He was very much so a veteran in his own right, and as much as he loved the thrill of adventure and combat his dreams lacked the star eyed illusion that war held any grandeur.
Link was with Malon.
They were overlooking the ranch on the roof of the barn,
the sun setting into a sea of deep orange and red. The grass below swayed beneath the herd of racing stallions. Their manes flowed behind them in a swirl of colors, whinnying and chasing one another through the massive corral.Talon chased a stampede of cuccos that must have escaped from the house. He ran holding a glass of Lon Lon milk in his hands, and most of it splashed onto him.
Epona lay beside Link, resting her large head on his lap. Malon did the same on his other side.
He tilted his face down to her.
She was mostly passed out, her brunette hair sprawled out across her face, almost hiding her happy smile
She was clearly grown, as was Link. It meant the events with Gannondorf had occurred, and he wasn't sent back to live his childhood.
It didn't matter.
He leaned down and gave Malon a deep kiss, catching her off guard. She returned his with just as much passion, even wrapping her hands around his head.
Link felt nothing but a warm bliss... even with Epona snoring quietly into his groin. He pulled off from Malon, her lips forming a small pout as he did.
Link glanced back into the sky. The sun had set completely, banishing the mix of colors back to nothingness.
His ears rang with the sudden silence. Link peered down. Epona and Malon were gone!
He stood up in a panic. The moment he did, he was blasted by a familiar fire bolt.
Link careened through the air from the rooftop, landing once more into the coral.
The ground rushed forward to meet him. He hit the ground like a rock, losing all breath in the process.
He pushed himself onto his feet, and realized that the horses had all vanished. In their place was a horde of ReDead slowly lumbering towards him. Link drew his master sword and lunged towards the nearest few. Their inhuman screams almost paralyzed him in fear, but he had heard the bloodcurdling howls enough to become more or less immune.
