Me and my mom are currently sitting on the plane on our way to California to start our new lives. We will be living with our American family until we find a place of our own.
I'm currently listening to 'atlas by Shannon Saunders' and I'm thinking about my sister and dad and wondering if they would be proud of what me and my mum are doing. I do feel like complete and utter shit for leaving them in England. Guilt is taking over my body, but at the same time I know that I can't mourn over their deaths for the rest of my life. I miss and love them so much and I hope they know that.
"Harper wake up darling, we're here" my mums gentle voice says. And with that I wake up and grab my hand luggage. The minute I step off the plane, the hot California air hits my face. Me and my mom begin walking into the airport to meet our family.
"There they are" I hear a female voice shout and before I know it I'm being smuggled into a hug by my great aunt.
"It's so nice to finally meet you Harper" everyone says. I'm still currently tired and I think I have a jet lag so all I reply with is "you too" and a smile.
"Here let me grab that for you". A tall good looking boy says.
"Thank you?" I say coming off more like a question than anything.
"I'm Matthew, but you can call me Matt. I'm your cousin" he says with a large smile.
"Oh I'm so sorry, I probably just sounded really rude" I reply.
"No it's fine honestly, I can tell your jet lagged so it's no worries. I'm sure I'd be the same" he replies with another large smile.
"Thank you".
