(A/N: this is very AU, it takes place during new moon, Jasper doesn't try to attack Bella and Edward never leaves...and it's on a weekend instead of a school day)
(Edward's POV)
I smiled at my sleeping Bella that Saturday morning as I wrote a letter for her:
"Happy birthday my beautiful sweet angel!
Eighteen years ago you came into the world and made it brighter.
one year ago you came into my life and changed it forever...
I know you said it wasn't necessary to celebrate your birthday, but the birth of a person like you deserves to be celebrated!
I'm sorry I wasn't there when you woke up, but I am preparing a birthday surprise for you...
Go back to sleep, when I come back I will wait on you hand and foot like the princess you are...
Love of my life, I love you so much.Thank you for loving me...
Sleep well, I'll be back when you wake up again.
Love, Edward." It said, I placed it on the pillow next to hers, and went down to the store to get blueberries, mushrooms, provolone, cheddar, and Colby jack cheese , I was kind of new at this cooking thing, but I wanted her to have a spectacular birthday so I was going to make her breakfast in bed, making blueberry muffins and bacon and a three cheese mushroom omelette for her.
Those were simple enough, except for the muffins...I immediately started cooking as soon as I got to her house, her father had left an hour ago, I heard her bed creak as she turned over in her sleep. I smiled.
I did a pretty good job considering I don't cook, the muffins were good as far as I could tell, and so were the omelette and bacon, so I put them on a plate and poured her a cup of milk to drink with her muffin, I'd heard sweets make humans thirsty, and carried it all upstairs.
I heard her moan as she stretched, I saw her sit up and read the note, and smiled turning pink, I smiled too, I loved how beautiful she was when she blushed. And I walked in her room."Good morning beautiful..." I said to her, placing her plate in her lap and her cup on her bedside table.
"Hi, " she said, turning from pink to faint red
She started on the muffin first.
"Thank you..." She said I smiled
"So... I have a present for you..." I said, and she groaned
"I told you you didn't have to do that... Why couldn't you get me a shoe carnival gift card like any other obtuse boyfriend would???" She whined, I scoffed
"I think I can do better than a gift card to a silly shoe store for the love of my life, thank you very much... besides, I know you well enough to know you're not into fashion... shoes especially."I said, and she chuckled,"now... Close your eyes..." I pleaded, She grimaced, but obliged.
"You didn't spend a lot did you?" She said worriedly, I chuckled,
"no love... I got this when my mother passed..." I said gently
"Oh." She said, surprised.
I gently attached a necklace with a teardrop shaped topaz around her neck.
"Okay... Now open them." I said, she opened her eyes and gasped
"It's so... Pretty..." She whispered, and I chuckled...
"See... Now that wasn't so bad was it...?"
