Emma's pov

-

It's been exactly two weeks since Calum left us. I miss him everyday, and I keep forgetting that he isn't going to be at the lunch table when I walk into the cafeteria. He won't be able to hangout after school and I won't ever see his smile in person ever again.

Is it weird that I leave him messages on his voice mail every night? I feel like somehow it's a way that I can tell Calum how everything is going. Luke told me that it isn't weird because it's a coping method. I can tell Luke missed Calum a little bit even though he didn't know him for very long. He was being nice and always asking if was okay. Ashton and Liz don't know yet but I don't feel like telling them yet. That's why it's nice to talk to Luke, because he is the only other person that knew about Calum other than my family.

"Wanna come over after school Emma?" I lifted my head off the lunch table and saw Luke looking at me. I haven't left my house for two weeks,  other than school. Maybe it might help me get my mind off of some things if I hung out with Luke.

"Sure" I nodded my head, and then put my head back down, I hadn't been having a very good sleep lately therefore I was really tired.

"What's up her ass?" Ashton whispered, obviously not intending for me to hear, but I did. I got up without saying anything and left, I didn't care to be talked about like I wasn't there. I walked to my locker to get books and I spent the rest of lunch period studying in the library.

Luke and I met at the front doors after school and started walking to his house. We passed by Calum's house and saw a for sale sign. I had to tell someone how I felt about it, and that someone happened to be walking beside me.

"It is disgusting that they are moving on this fast. They haven't even had his funeral yet and they are already selling everything" I was really annoyed with everything today and I wish I could just  talk to Calum.

"When is his funeral?" Luke asked me while he played with his lip ring using his tongue.

"This Sunday. Are you coming?" He didn't know Calum for very long so I wasn't sure if he felt comfortable going to his funeral or not.

"I don't know yet" he played with his lip ring again, probably because he didn't know what to say. Once we got to his house he took me inside and his parents greeted us at the door.

"Hey Luke, oh and you brought a friend! Emily if I remember correctly?" She smiled as Craig continued to walk outside and start the one of the cars sitting in the driveway. I smiled and nodded my head. I didn't want to be rude and correct her so I just let her and Luke talk for a second while I awkwardly stood there. After telling Luke that they wouldn't be back for a while because they had a meeting she rushed off, got into the car then they drove away.

Luke put Netflix on his tv in the living room and we both agreed on Halloween Town since it was October, it wasn't weird to watch it.  Halloween is my favourite holiday and I loved Halloween movies just as much.

"We made a good choice, Halloween is the best" I was trying to lighten the mood because I knew that I hadn't been the most pleasant company today, or the last few days.

"I agree, I love dressing up and getting free candy" Luke smiled and his dimples showed for the first time in what seemed like forever.  I couldn't help but smile.

"I just love fall in general, I mean those pumpkin spice lattes are pretty damn good" I laughed

"And don't even get me started on thes-" Luke was cut off by the door opening and Michael coming in with a girl that I knew, under his arm.

"Is mom home?"

"No"

"Good"

Their conversation was over as soon as it started and Michael took the girl to his room and put loud music on, making it too obvious what they were planning on doing. Thankfully Luke pressed play on the movie and made sure it was loud enough that we couldn't hear the noises or music.

The movie ended and we just sat there for a few minutes talking about what we were going to be for Halloween.

"I'm being batman" Luke smiled and seemed proud of his costume choice. I haven't got a idea yet because Calum and I usually went together to help pick out each other's costume.

"I still need to go shopping" I sighed as I looked at the time and realized that I should probably be getting home now. I mentioned to him that I should get going.

"Wanna ride?" I was surprised when Luke pulled out some keys from his pocket.

"I didn't know you could drive, you have your license?" Why would he walk to school when he could drive? I know that if I had a choice between waking and driving myself, then the choice would be obvious.

"If I didn't have my license I wouldn't be offering to drive you anywhere" Luke laughed and as he bent down to tie up show shoes and I did the same.

"Why don't you drive to school?"

"I like to walk" he smiled and we walked to his car.

We talked about different random things on the way, until we reached my house and I thanked Luke for everything he was doing for me.

"Thanks Luke, you know, for putting up with me and hanging out with me. I know I haven't been that nice lately so thanks" I smiled at him and he smiled and I smiled back.

As I walked to my door I thought about how if I hadn't meet Luke all of this would have been a lot harder to deal with by myself and I realized that I was thankful for that new kid.

Once I got to my room I pulled out my phone and dialled the number I've had memorized for years. A few rings and then a familiar voicemail popped up.

"Hey it's Calum, sorry I can't come to the phone right now but leave a message and I'll get back to you"

"Hey Cal, today was a long day and I still miss you like crazy. Ashton is being an asshole like usual and Liz still follows him around like a puppy too afraid to admit it to herself that she likes him. I haven't told them about you yet, but I think that I will soon. Your funeral is in two days. Luke and I hung out and watched Disney movies together for the second time, he is being a good friend. I'm kinda tired so I think I'll go now. I love you bye"
