The New Kid

Chapter 5

Emma's pov
-

"Don't mind me, I just came to get Luke's laundry" I gazed up form where I was laying and was confused why I saw Luke's mother Marie standing over me. I looked down to realize our bodies were in a twine. Underneath his blankets, in his bed, at his house.

"I'm so sorry Mrs. Clifford" I crawled out of Luke's grasp as he slowly stretched while yawning. He waved at his mom as I stood at the foot of the bed.

"I'm sure you remember Emma, her mom owns the diner down the street" Luke said with a sleepy smile on his face. He didn't seem embarrassed at all, this has never happened to me before and I was embarrassed as to what her assumptions were.

"Yes I do recall meeting her there. I'm making eggs and bacon downstairs, feel free to join us for breakfast Emma" She flashed a warm smile and seemed so nice, friendly and was accepting of the situation. Nothing happened other then us sleeping, I'm sure of it. She left the room and Luke lazily got out of his bed and let out a loud yawn.

My head was pounding and I was regretting going to the party last night. I remember everything, which is surprising, considering I drank a lot of alcohol, just thinking about it made me sick to my stomach.

"I'm going to get changed in the bathroom, I'll bring back some Advil and water for you" Luke smiled at me then took his stuff and left the room. I got dressed into the clothes I was wearing from the day before, which thank god, didn't smell like booze. As I was looking around Luke's room I heard a knock at the door and a few moments later Luke's brother Michael walked in.

"Oh, I didn't know you were here. Did you and Luke have a good night last night?" he mumbled and checked me out while biting his lip. I ignored his examination of me and decided to be nice.

"Nice to see you too and as a matter of fact we had a great night, with Calum" I was trying to tell him that nothing happened without saying that nothing happened.

"I see, so tell me all about your threesome" Michael was still bitting his lip and started making fake sex noises just as Luke walked into the room. Michael defiantly wasn't helping with my already bad headache. Luke tossed the bottle of Advil's to me and I caught them with my right hand.

"Michael stop creeping my friend out. Go jack off or something" Luke clicked his tongue at his brother and Michael winked as he walked out of his room. He handed me a glass of water and I took two pills that would hopefully start helping my pounding head soon.

"Sorry about him, my step brother can be really annoying sometimes. How was your sleep?" Luke laughed and played with his lip ring, I thought that they were real brothers, it did make sense though because Michael looked nothing like Marie and the same with Luke and Craig.

"I actually had a really good sleep last night, your bed is really comfortable. I might just marry it" I was obviously joking and I hoped he wouldn't be creeped out by what I just said.

"That might be difficult to do considering the fact that my bed and I are already in a steady relationship, I'd say things are going well so you better not mess things up" he laughed and stood up from the spot he had recently sat down during the short time he walked in.

I took out my phone from my pocket and glanced at the time.

10:53 AM

"Thanks for everything Luke, But I should probably be getting home now" I looked around his room once more, and walked out and down the staircase. In the night I couldn't see what his house looked like, but now seeing it in the light I realized that it was a beautiful home.

"I'll see you at school then Emma. Uh hey can I get your number?" I was surprised that he asked for my number but I gave it to him right away since I had it memorized, I said goodbye and started walking home. Hopefully my parents wouldn't notice that I was still blushing because I just 'slept' with a boy for the first time.

I slowly made my way up the steps of my house and opened the front door which was unlocked because they are expecting me home.

"Emma!" I stumbled as the 7 year old threw himself at me and hugged me with all his force.

"Hey T, how was your night last night?" All I wanted to do was sleep, but I loved talking to my little brother because he was so innocent and kind to everyone.

"You missed Taco night and the walking dead season 5 is now on Netflix!" I loved that show, and it was one of the only shows my two brothers and I could actually sit down and watch together. I really wanted to see the new episodes but I was really tired so I decided to tell Toby that we could watch some later after I had a little time to sleep and eat something. I walked into the kitchen and found my dad reading the newspaper at the table.

"Any interesting news?" I asked my dad while I reached for an apple out of the fridge.

"Nothing if you like in this town. How was your night sweetheart?" I was a daddy's girl and I loved the fact that he still called me his cute nicknames for me even though I was getting too old for them.

" I think I ate too much junk food and stayed up too late" I tried to fake a laugh but I Was bad at lying, thankfully my dad didn't look up from the words he was reading. I told him I was going to take a shower and then a nap and he just nodded his head and said okay.

Once I was out of the shower and fully dressed again, I laid down on my bed and started scrolling through Instagram. My phone suddenly vibrated and a text popped up on the screen.

It happened Emma. He left us.

I knew exactly who Calum was talking about. His mom and dad had been fighting a lot lately and he recently filed for a divorce which really upset Calum. They all used to be so close until Chase died. Chase was Calum's older brother who was deployed in the army, and was killed by a land mine a few years ago. It was the hardest thing he ever had to go through until now.
