"I'm glad you're happy, dear," Elizaveta smiled at Roderich, pouring more tea into her cup. "Gilbert is an insufferable arse, but...he treats you well."

Roderch's cheeks grew warm and he gave a small smile and nod in response. "That he does. How've you been, Eliza?" He glanced up at her and pushed his glasses further up the bridge of his nose.

"Very well." She sipped her hot drink. They chatted like this for the better part of a few hours, sharing news and just carrying on. The female nation glanced at the clock and made a small grunt-like noise. "It's nearly four. I should be going." She stood and Roderich followed suit.

They shared a hug and the Austrian escorted her to the door. "Today was lovely, Roderich, thank you." She planted a small kiss on his cheek and left. They may be separated, but Elizaveta still loved dear Roderich. And he, her. How could he not? They'd shared so many years together, some well, some not so. They may have not been joined by love in the beginning, but it fondness did indeed grow between them. Certainly.

Austria shut the door behind her and left for the master bedroom to check on Gilbert who was currently nursing a rather nasty hangover, with the added sting of a large, blotchy bruise that decorated the side of his pale face. No matter how many times Gilbert fibbed to Roderich about a "Totally awesome heroic battle" in a bar last night, a quick call to Francis and Antonio confirmed that Gilbert did indeed get into a fight, but with gravity. So here Roderich was now, holding a bag of green beans (they we're out of peas) to Gilbert's face. "Thanks, Specs."

"Of course." He placed a small kiss on the albino's other, unmarked, cheek, despite him being absolutely enraged at him for arriving at 3 in the morning, drunken babbling spilling out of his mouth and a fresh goose-egg. Of course, the silverette found ways to get Roderich's pity to overcome his anger.

Fast forward to later that night, Gilbert and Roderich had finished their nightly routine before three loud raps at the door interrupted them. "Get the door, will you?" Roderich asked, slipping under the cool sheets. Gilbert, with some protest, eventually left for the foyer and threw the door open. "Eh?" He used as some sort of a "what the hell do you want, it's 9 o'clock". The Prussian was in nothing but his blue plaid boxers, hair disheveled and the sickly purple-yellow blotch highly contrasted against his skin, and anyone would be a tad bit put back by his appearance. But this particular visitor showed no emotion if he was.

Gilbert scoffed and his lips rose in a disgusted snarl. "Roddy! You have company!" His ruby eyes never left the man at the door, scanning his small frame up and down. When the brunette entered, he grumbled, "Gilbert, who is-" Oh...mein gott. His heart stopped and a lump caught in his throat. "Gilbert, could...could you give us a minute, please, dearest?" Hesitantly, Gilbert huffed and retreated back into the bedroom.

Roderich leaned against the door frame and mumbled, "What do you want, Vasch?"

The Swiss shuffled his feet and cleared his throat. "How've you been, Roderich..."

"I know you didn't come for small talk. Now what do you want." His knuckles we're turning white against the door frame.

The blonde sighed. "I'll have to explain everything later. Just..please meet me for coffee at noon?" There was a pause. "Goodnight, Roderich."

Strange...so very strange. The brunette thought and shut the door.

"Well, are you going?" Gilbert asked when his lover had returned into the bedroom. Roderich took his time pulling back the sheets and returning to the warm embrace of the comforter. "Yes." He deadpanned.

Gilbert gave him a look of disbelief. "You're serious? After everything he did to you?" The brunette nodded. "He seemed distressed about something. And he wouldn't just come to my house in the middle of the night just to ask me for a casual cup of coffee."

"But--"

"Gilbert. I'm meeting him for coffee. End of discussion, alright? It's not like he's taking me to bed. Now goodnight." He laid on his side, placing his glasses on the bedside table. He heard Gil mumble something under his breath before wrapping an arm around his beloved brunette. "Night to you too, Roddy."
