 I was stunned “How?”

He chuckled “I know you better than anyone. I can just tell how you are around him. Why do you think I told him to help you. There is something between you two. There is no deny the connection you two have.”

“I thought you would be mad...”

“I mean I’m not thrilled but I know Jack is a good guy. He won’t hurt you. Plus I’m not afraid to beat the shit out of him... Unlike the last guy.”

I giggled remembering my last boyfriend was bigger than Matt. He was not only tall but built. He was a football player so he was just built naturally big.

Jack was completely different. I mean he wasn’t unnaturally skinny but he wasn’t fat either. He was a good size for me. He was taller than me but not too tall that it made it awkward. I just had to find a way to get to know him. Then there was the Aimee issue.

Matt shook his head “You can’t get rid of her very easy...”

I raised an eyebrow “What about becoming ‘friends’ with her?”

“How will that help?”

“Get closer to her to get closer to Jack... Duh!”

He chuckled “Good luck with that...”

I waved him off “I’m an expert at fake friends and moving in on their men...”

“Sadly I know...”

“I only did it a couple times...”

“More like five times.”

I giggled “Those guys were my friends first though.”

“Whatever. I think you should get to know Jack and become his friend not her’s. It might be easier being closer friends with him than her...”

I thought about what Matt was saying. He did make a good point. What if I winded up liking Aimee and I didn’t want to hurt her. I think my best bet would be getting closer to Jack by forming a friendship.

“I think you’re right. But what if Jack winds up not liking me the way I like him.”

Matt chuckled “Are you kidding?”

I giggled shaking my head “No...”

“You’re clueless to how he acts around you. Aimee could be right beside him but he just looks at you. Aimee could try to talk to him but he is only focused on you.”

I was shocked “What? Are you serious?”

Matt nodded “He clearly feels something towards you.”

I felt my cheeks getting warm. I didn’t know Matt noticed anything between me and Jack. I’m surprised he saw things with Jack. He’s observant but I didn’t know he was that observant.

As I got ready to ask Matt how he noticed the door swung open. I smiled slightly when I saw Jack walk in.

He smiled slightly “Am I interrupting?”

Matt chuckled shaking his head “Nope.”

Matt stood up giving me a quick stern look “I have to go get the lists ready for tomorrow.”

Knowing Matt he already has the lists done, he was just coming up with a reason to leave. Jack waited for Matt to leave before sitting down.

“So you enjoying yourself?”

I nodded smiling “Yup. I’m really having fun. You?”

He nodded “Yeah. I love touring.”

We both sat there for a minute quietly. I looked over at him seeing him looking back at me.

He turned to me “Want a drink?”

I nodded “Sure.”

He smiled “I’ll be right back.”

I couldn’t help but smile. I was looking forward to becoming friends with Jack. I just wanted to get to know him better. I figured when he came back we could talk and get to know each other since we were alone. I must have thought too soon because when Jack walked back in Aimee followed close behind him. He hands me a Mike’s Hard Lemonade looking slightly disappointed.

Aimee smiled sitting down “So Ava, what’s up?”

I fake a smile “Nothing. Just been bonding with my brother.”

“Oh yeah. His name is Mike right?”

I sighed “It’s Matt.”

“Right sure...”

I stood up “I think I need something stronger than this...”

I put the drink down and walked towards the front lounge. I saw Matt, Rian, Vinny, Alex, and Zack sitting around the TV with drinks.

I walked over sitting on Alex taking his drink. “Whatcha watching?”

Alex chuckled “Project X.”

As I took a sip of Alex’s drink I knew it wasn’t strong enough to make me forget Aimee and Jack. I needed it to be stronger. I grabbed the bottle of Vodak that sat on the table in front of us and poured more into Alex’s cup.

Alex snatched the cup from my hand “HEY!”

I giggled taking it back taking a big gulp. I loved the burn as it made it’s way down my throat.

Matt sighed “Ava, what are you doing?”

I faked a smile “It was too weak. Come on we’re all adults! Our drinks should be strong. We should be enjoying ourselves.”
