Aura Fae

22:46

Aura awoke to a loud slam, she heard footsteps coming from outside their bedroom.

"Opal," she whispered. Opal answered with a groan, "I think someone is in the house."

Opal didn't have time to answer before their bedroom door was broken down. "Freeze!" A mans voice shouted, it was to dark to put a face to the man. Another figure walked in with Warren holding his hands behind his back. Someone switched on the light, the men had a symbol on their uniforms, government agents. The man that brought Warren in brought him over to Aura's bed. Aura had a bad feeling about this.

"Sit down." The man ordered Warren. He was a few years older that Aura. He was probably about twenty or so.

A man, looking to be in his early forties, walked in the room and stood in front of Aura's bed. "Opal, come here. I promise we won't hurt you." The man said, his hair was light brown, his eyes had a tired look in them, they were a darker shade of brown maybe a medium brown.

"Really, because most of the time people that break into your home usually want to hurt you." Opal argued.

"Oh that, I apologize for the forcefulness. But you wouldn't have cooperated if we had contacted you normally, heck I'm surprised Aura here hasn't teleported away." He replied.

"I would never abandon my friends." Aura stood up looking at the man. "How do you know so much about us?" She demanded.

"We've had our eyes on you three for quite awhile now." A woman said walking in. "I'll take it from here, Jameson." She shooed away the man.

"Who are you people?" Opal asked.

The lady turned to face Opal, her dark brown eyes seemingly peering into her soul. "I am Darlene Palmer, headmistress of a government funded school for superhumans designed to train people like you to help us do good. And I have come to talk to you three about joining." The woman said pulling her dark brown hair into a ponytail.

"And the best way to convince us was to break into our home?" Aura asked.

"As agent Jameson has explained you would not have cooperated if we had contacted you normally."

Aura glared daggers at the woman.

"Let's see what she has to say guys." Warren said.

"Thank you, son. If you disagree we will leave and pay for any damages done, but if you agree you will be moved to the school and train for about four years. Once you start you will be signed up as government agents, which means you will have access to classified information." She explained.

"Okay. Give us a few minutes to talk about it in private." Aura told her.

Palmer nodded then left taking the agents with her.

Opal walked over to Aura and Warren. "Do we agree?" She asked.

"Seems like a good offer." Warren said laying down on the white sheets.

"We'll have access to government files." Opal stated.

"That could help us find our killers." Warren added.

"I don't know, what if it's a trap." Aura paused for a moment laying her head In her hands. "We have hacked into some pretty serious files." She said lowering her voice.

"I don't think it is." Warren said messing with a pillow.

"I think we should agree." Opal said. "Think of how much good we'll do."

"Fine, you two seem hell bent on going so we can go."

"Thanks, you know we wouldn't go without you." Warren sat up.

"I know, something seems off about that woman though." Aura said.

"That's just because you don't like the government." Warren picked.

"Whatever." Aura walked over to the door telling a man guarding the door to send in Miss Palmer then walked back and sat beside Warren.

A few minutes later Miss Palmer walked in. "Have you made a decision?" She asked.

"We have. We'll join your little hero school." Aura replied.

"Wonderful. We'll give you twenty minutes to pack your things then we must head to the school. She turned and walked out of the room.

The gang got up and began packing.

"Ready?" Palmer walked in the room.

"I believe so." Opal replied.

"Good. Now, from now on you shall address me as ma'am or miss."

"Yes, ma'am." Warren and Opal said in unison. Aura just glared clutching her backpack to her chest.

"Follow me, children." Palmer walked towards the garage, they all followed.

Children! Aura though. I'm not a child. The things I do for my friends.

A man opened the garage door. "What about our van?" Opal asked.

"We'll have it inspected then if it's up to our code we will bring it to the facility." Palmer replied.

They do not know how much I paid for that! Aura was gripping her backpack tight.

They walked to the side walk just as a limo drove up. Palmer opened the door. "Mr. Jameson will drive you to the facility where you will be taken to your rooms to get settled in."

They filed in and closed the door. The limo drove off down the cold, muggy New York street.
