It was our last day at our house in Florida for a long while, and it was pretty hard on all of us. My things were all packed up in suitcases and boxes, leaving my room all empty.
To me, leaving the house also meant leaving all the memories, may it be good or bad, and the reputation that I built in Florida, may it be in the school or out.
All those years, my siblings and I tried our best to build a respectable reputation, and all of that was just going to waste because we were moving to California.
Our dad was a famous director and producer, and he and Mom decided that being there would be easier because it would be less costly for him to keep flying back and forth, and it meant having him home more.
Why did we have to go? Well, honestly, I didn't know, and it was way too late to ask mom to change her mind hours away from our scheduled flight.
"Ryder, it's time to go. Please open the door. We'll help you with your stuff," Alex and Lexi said in unison.
Well, they really seemed very calm even with everything that was happening. Wish I could be the same.
"Coming," I said, unlocking the door and letting them in. Jackson was there with them too, just to help me take out my things from my room, and then we went in the car.
The driver put all our important stuff in the back before we drove to the airport. The rest of the boxes were going to be shipped.
"When we get there, we'll just go to the private jet then we'll be in Los Angeles in about 5 hours," Mom told us when we got close to the airport.
"That's good. I'm already tired, even though it's just 11:30 in the morning. It must be all the carrying of things," my younger sister, Paige commented.
                              "We're here," dad announced.
We got out of the car as our driver and a few bodyguards quickly unloaded our stuff and put them on those carts for bags. They walked with us to the unloading area, and we went into our plane.
When we got in, I saw Lexi in my seat so I did what I had to do.
"Lexi," I started calmly before raising my voice. "Get out. That's my seat!"
"What?" Lexi said as she took out her headphones, listening to music.
No wonder she didn't hear me.
"I said get out of my seat!" I complained again.
"Why would I do that if I was here first?" she asked with a smirk, clearly trying to annoy me.
"Because that's always been my seat. Now, get out!" I pushed her lightly.
Alex went between us and spoke, "Hey, stop already! If Lexi won't give you that seat, then just get hers. And Lexi, if you don't give him that seat, then I guess Ryder can take your skateboard when we get to L.A. too. So if you don't care, then I think I will try learning how to use your skateboard now so I can borrow it from him."
She rolled her eyes at Lexi and I before going to her seat, taking a picture of the runway from her window, acting as if nothing happened.
Lexi was still shocked at what Alex said. She slowly stood up, muttering something under her breath before walking to her usual seat.
Alex really knew what to say and when to say it. Her threats worked wonders on Lexi, and she intimidated the shit out of me when she wanted to.
I guess that was why people were always surprised when we say she's not the eldest of us three when we introduce ourselves.
Whatever, at least I got my seat back.
It was quite a long ride, but when we finally landed, I desperately wanted to see our new house and lay on my bed, and it seemed like the whole family did so too, even though it was only the afternoon, still all bright and sunny.
Seeing even just the outside of our new home as we drove past the large gates, I knew it was one hell of an upgrade from our previous house.
